Question about GE Profile Stainless Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator with Internal Dispenser 22.2 Cu. Ft. - PFS22SIS
This is compresso starting problem.
What you hear is the relay contact which is on and off and can stay on.
You need to check also the starting capacitor which near the relay. One of the two must be replaced with anew one, in some cases both must be replaced.
So check them both and replace the ones that are faulty.

The problem you have is simple and not very expensive to be fixed for someone who is familiar with refrigerators, and electrical. The relay and starting capacitor are located to the junction box of the compressor. Is the black plastic box on the side of compressor where all electrical wire is connected? However if you fill that you are not so familiar with compressors and electrical the we suggest to have someone professional since there is big chance that if you make a wrong connection to burn the compressor or motor they are the same thing and in this case then you will need a new fridge
Unfortunately yes remove it from the plug in order to eliminate any more damage, try to save as much as possible of your food, please remember that any frozen food that have been defrost you cannot freeze the it again uncooked since this will be very danger for your health. In order to save them you must cook it or even boil it, like meat fish or other and then you can put them in freezer again. This time it will be for short time thaw.

The clicking noise is the thermostat on the side of the compressor motor ,the motor is overheating badly so its either a case of a re-gas or the motor has burnt out ,i would expect the later which is 90% of the possibility .It might be cheaper to dump it and just buy a new one as a call out charge will cost then the parts ?? unless you find a neighbour or friend of a neighbour who can get his hands on a secondhand motor and change it for you

Are you saying just "dump the whole fridge"???? because the part and the call will be that expensive??? It's only 3-4 years old!!!???
Are you saying we should dump the whole fridge?? because the part and the call will be that expensive?? It's only 3-4 years old!!!???
I was just told to dump my 3 year old refridgerator. I'd like to have a second opinion.
Thanks for your help, but I'm not 100% clear on what you're saying. Is it the compressor or the motor? What is a relay? Is this something that can be fixed? Since it's a holiday weekend, it will cost extra to have someone come out to look at it. Should we do that or can it wait till Tuesday? We will have to put all the food in coolers, obviously, but maybe it's worth it to wait to pay less for the repair time? Also, is it fixable? The last person said to dump it! It's only 3 years old!!
Thank you so much! One last question - should we unplug the fridge till we can get someone to look at it?
Yes! This was very helpful. It saved me a lot of time and worry. Thank you!
