I've had my iriver H340 for a number of years and it's recently started shutting down as if the battery is dead just a few songs after being fully recharged. I guess the battery is dying but i'm not sure. I heard it is easy to replace the battery yourself but i'm not sure how to go about doing this. The battery i require is an Li-Polymer 3.7 V. Any advice?

Re: battery is dying
Nope - that battery is completely rechargeable. There is a small possibility that the battery could have experienced some small corrosion, but this is a slim possibility. The documentation suggests that this model has an external battery pack, and comes with the following instructions:
Slide the external battery pack cover to open it.
Insert four AA batteries, be careful to observe the correct polarity. Slide the
cover back into place.
Inserting external battery pack
Twist the external battery pack to UNLOCK direction. Insert the H300 to the
system slot of the external battery pack.

Hi, I had the same problem with my H340. I bought a battery for $16 on eBay and swapped them out. The unit would say "Charging" but would never "Complete". When disconnected from the AC, it would not power up at all. I opened it up again and noticed that the old battery connections had the red wire on the left, the battery had the red wire on the right. I took the black and red wires out of the quick-connect jack and swapped them so that the red wire would no go into the player on the left. Works like a charm now.
Hi , the price of the motherboard you might as well buy a newe Iriver mate , but if you wanted you might be able to salvage one from a broken I river on an auction site since replacements are not readily avalible for the public .. and as for complexity , it shouldnt be too hard but technician to preform the repair job would save alot of hastle in the long run.
I'm not sure if you are familiar with www.misticriver.net. click on fourms then scroll down to the H3xx series then H3xx Series Support. You can find the best support there.
It sounds like your battery may have died. Check this thread: http://www.misticriver.net/showthread.php?t=34257 The battery is replaceable. Apparently MANY people have problems with the battery after one year of use.
