Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook

1 Answer

Sound speed I can't find how to adjust the sound on my aspire 5100. Every audio file comes out too high pitched. For example, any audio at normal speed sounds like a "chipmunk" cartoon voice.

Regardless of the types of files. Every sound, either using the DVD/CD, or dowloaded MP3, or mvw comes out "chipmunky"
I have tried the various Media Player and Acer settings and nothing seems to work.

What are you listening to the files with? Windows media player has settings for this if you look at the expanded options.

Go here to the website and download new drivers for your sound. If that does not work, download the Bios and flash it to see if that helps.

Let me know what happens when you take the driver out and then put it back in. Make sure you do a custom or advanced uninstall if it allows you to. This will give you the option to take everything out of your computer. If Acer has something installed that you can download and re-install for audio, do that also. There has got to be a glitch in your driver somewhere. Is this music that you have downloaded off of the internet or CD's. If this does not work, I have another idea.

My sound is real funny like chipmunk sounds

If the pitch of the sound being played by your computer speakers has changed dramatically or songs and videos are playing faster or slower than they typically should be, the problem is with the sound speed on your computer. This could mean a hardware issue with your speakers or sound card or a software issue with the program that you're using to play a digital media file.

Double-check your speaker connections. If one of the audio cables that runs off of your speakers isn't plugged correctly into your computer, this could cause the audio coming from them to speed up or slow down. Make sure all cables are properly connected to their proper inputs and try to play your audio again. Update the driver for your computer's sound card. Go to the website of the company that made your sound card and look for your unit's product page. Under the "Support" section, click on the download link for the latest device driver. Once the file is on your computer, double-click on it to install it. Then restart your computer and try to play your audio again. Make sure you haven't accidentally sped up or slowed down the media file you are trying to play. Many digital media programs like iTunes or Windows Media Player have features that allow you to play a song or video in slow or fast motion. If this becomes accidentally selected, the audio will also be in slow or fast motion. Click "Stop" to stop your media file from playing and then click "Play" again to allow it to play normally. Restart your computer. This will free up system memory when your computer restarts. If your sound was playing too slow or too fast due to an error with not having enough memory to play properly, that error will now be fixed and your sound should return to normal speed. Hope this helps.

My Acer Aspire 5100 laptop makes a loud high pitched consistent noise when I try to turn it on. then the noise stops, then a black screen comes up with writing, but when i hit resume, the computer restarts...

The problem might be the power supply charger that plugs into the laptop, unplug the charger and run the laptop on battery power, is the high pitch sound there when you power up? if this solves the problem, it is the power supply charger that is the cause.

No sound

Go the contro panel > Sound, look at the audio tab or page and make sure that the integrated sound card on the laptop is set as the default device and not something else.

Dvd people sound high pitched or inhaled helium

You Need To Install The Correct Audio Codec which will correct the issue...

http://www.afreecodec.com/audio-codecs/

the link above has free codecs for download..
I'm not able to tell which one you need so best thing for you to do is start from the first one, download/install it then test the dvd...then go on to the second audio codec and download/install Until You Get The DVD To Sound Normal...

THe Codecs Are Extremely Small In Thier File Size... So DOn't Worry About Any Space Being Taken Up From Downloading These... You Might Have To DL Quite a few before you get the correct one...

Also You Can Do A Google Search For: XP Codec Pack......

Download that and it will auto install about 10 or so of the most common Audio Codecs along with video codecs...

Audio on Webcam is distorted - seems to be recording at a slower speed and palying back at normal spped

as a workaround you can use the headset, you just need to configure your messenger again to use the sound from the mic input instead from the webcam.

No Sound from Acer 5100 : Volume tab is disabled

I am worried that there is a problem with the sound card on your motherboard. If it has worked in the past and then suddenly disappeared, usually it is because the computer can no longer locate your sound card. It will not load a driver for a device that no longer exists. Since you have already done most of the troubleshooting steps, it is time to think about replacing your motherboard. Good luck

Sound problem with Aspire 5570

I had the same problem with my Acer 5570 and I just fixed it. What I did is to go to Control Panel > Sounds And Audio Devices >Hardware >On Devices click on Reatek High Definition Audio >Click Properties > On Devise Usage choose the option Do not use this devise (disable) > click OK >then plug in your headphones, click on Realtek High Definition Audio properties again and click on Enable Devise **with the headphones plugged in**. It worked for me.
