Question about Brother HL3070CW Compact Digital Color with Wireless Networking Laser Printer

3 Answers

I recently purchased a Brother HL- 3070CW printer and installed it on a home network. The network is set up as follows: 1) Router - Belkin Play Max N 2) Desktop - Windows XP Home Edition - Wired 3) Laptops (2) - Windows 7 - Wireless Connections I have repeatedly run the set up for printer trying both wireless and wired setups using the Brother set up software. In all instances I leave the set up process with all indications that the set up was successful, but so far over the past several days - of experimenting - I have only printed two pages. Additional info: I have checked the IP address for the printer both at the router and the printer - they are the same There do not appear to be any IP address conflicts I can ping the printer from the PCs and have even gotten access to the the printer menus via the network But the bottom line is that even though everything seems to indicate "connected" nothing seems to be getting through - except in those two instances I mentioned previously.

There are no IP conflicts and the gateway is set up correctly as indicated in the printer settings.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I tried that and I am still not getting anything to print. Previously I had been working from the wired desktop - with the XP operating system. Today, after your suggestion, I tried the process from one of the laptops - Windows7.

I have access to the router and have confirmed that DHCP is enabled.

I should add that I currently set the printer up as a wired peer-to-peer
printer in the router. (Ethernet cable plugged into both devices.)

    Printer is still not responding.

I have set and confirmed all of the items previously suggested.

There are no IP conflicts on the router.
    DHCP is enabled
The printer indicates that it is connected.
I have hooked up an ethernet cable and set the printer up for a wired network connection.

Thank you for the response, but you may have to do more explaining regarding opening ports. I have some experience with setting up PCs but have never gone into that area.

I have confirmed that both the Pc and the printer are expecting to "talk" via the same port - if I am to believe the name they are providing.

Incidentally, have I mentioned that periodically (three times now) something will print out. In each case it is a document that I have sent to be printed some time previously and had been told - in the PC that there was a problem. In each of the case I am sure that I deleted it from the print menu.

But they still ended up being printed. Usually when they print I think that I have somehow stumbled upon a solution. That has not proved to be the case, however.

    A question?
The router is working at 2.5GHz and 5GHz
On the first it says the wireless channel i set to 4 with the extension channel being 8
On the second the wireless channel is "auto" and the extension channel is 40

The printer indicates that its Channel is 4 with the receiving channel being 3.

I have no idea if that information is critical, but am including it just in case.

Your networking is fine as you can see the printer on all computers. It seems to be a driver related problem. Please follow the link below to un and re install the printer on all computers following the link below:

For the printer to work some ports must be opened both in the router and in the pc's: LPD ("printer") on port 515, IPP on 631, and PDL-datastream on 9100.. Make sure of that. For diagnostic purposes try first with all the firewalls shut down.

Normally the receiving is done in the same channel - the fact that the printer expect that on a different one might be the cause why it doesn't work. Change it back to 4.
Here you can find a good tutorial on how to open and forward ports in pc's and the router. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view....

Same ip address creates problem in network. Make sure that your printer ip address is different from another ip address of computers. Set gateway as your router ip in all computers. Then check. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

  • If you get ping of printer ip address on all computer then only need to uninstall printer driver then reinstall.

For that go to control panel uninstall printer driver from there then reinstall printer driver.

click on above link select your os and download driver then install.

    then it will work again.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

    thanks for using FixYa.

  • Enable DHCP in router then on your computer go to local area connection tcp ip property and set "ip get automatic "

For enable DHCP in router follow below direction.

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.http://192.168.1.1 orhttp://192.168.0.1 orhttp://192.168.15.1 orhttp://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then go to DHCP and enable it then save settings and restart router.

Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Printer HL-3070CW - LOUD Grinding noise when it seems to be running large print offs. It is almost like it gets too hot

My 3070CW makes the same noise. It is caused by the transfer belt. One roller is driven by a cog and this goes fine. The other roller has a tensioner and this roller is making all the noise. While the noise is really loud and annoying - it is completely harmless. Hope this helps.

Hi!
Your Printer is connected to the (network) router via ethernet cable. Hence, it is a NETWORK PRINTER NOT A WIRELESS DEVICE, no matter your PC is connected to the network wirelessly. So, search for and install the printer as a NETWORK PRINTER. From the printer installation, it should searh and find the printer and susequently install the required drivers.
Moreover, you may checkout the followings link for instructions on how to install/ add a network printer.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Hope it helps! Good Luck!

OK let me disable something in your router

QOS

Supported Products - Play Wireless Router (F7D4302), Play Max Wireless Router (F7D4301)

Using QoS rules on your Belkin Router helps provide both bandwidth and priority to network traffic so it can pass without its performance being affected. It allows users to classify traffic of applications and provides them with differentiated services (Diffserv).

Setup Steps

  1. Click on the green Belkin Router Manager icon (right-click for Windows) to open the menu.
  2. On the Belkin Router Manager menu, scroll up to Router Settings and highlight.
  3. Click to open the Belkin Router Setup page on your Web browser.

You must log in with a password to make changes to your Router's settings. If you have not yet set a custom up a password, leave this field blank and click the "Submit" button.

  1. From the QoS Profiles page, you can easily set up QoS rules.
  2. Click the "Apply Changes" button to save your settings.

Also disable WPS and Firewall in router.

let me know .

You have to setup that printer from all clients as a network printer again... from each client, and print a test page from each too. Sharing must be enabled also, it must be installed with latest drivers, for whichever system.. Just set it up correctly and all will be good.
