Question about HP G60t Notebook

1 Answer

I have a HP G60t CTOnotebook pc, Mobile intel (R) 4 series express ipset family Version 8.15.10.2119, I purchased it 9 months ago at UBID.com and it was refurbished and only came with a 90 day warranty, I called HP and they will not offer support. I have a blank screen, the laptop boot up and runs fine with an external monitor connected using the win logo P keys to toggle between duplicate, entend and projector. I did a hard boot, reseated the memory updated graphics drivers and followed all troubleshooting steps at HP site, to no avail. I do use a notebook cooler so it is running cool. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The video chip/circuit on your laptop if fine since another monitor works. You need to replace the screen since it is fubar.

SOURCE: Blank white lcd

Yes, it could very well be a dead LCD unit. I have a LCD in a laptop in the office that has a nasty line running down through the entire screen. We contacted someone about replacing just the LCD portion of it and they said - don't bother. They said it would be more prudent to wait until it dies, and then upgrade to a new computer. It is the nature of the LCD units themselves, when they give up the ghost they give up the ghost.

The fact that you can see everything fine on an external monitor shows that you have lost your LCD. The odds of the cable inside the machine going bad are minimal/tiny to say the least. If they were exposed cables such that they could get crimped, then possibly that could be the culprit. With them being routed inside the unit, it is almost impossible for them to get pinched.

The only other option, and this only works if your machine is still under warranty, is to have HP fix it as part of your machines warranty. BUT, not all warranties cover the screen anyhow. The laptops I have bought required me to purchase insurance on the screen itself.

So, you'll have to determine if you can manage with the external monitor all the time or if you need a new laptop.
Sorry it is not good news for you.

I suggest uninstalling SP3... do you have System Restore turned on? Google how to check...

If you do, try rolling back that way. Start>Run>restore <enter> and the restore window will appear. Choose the restore to an earlier time option, and hopefully a choice for 'SP3 installation' will be there. Choose that to roll back... good luck!

SOURCE: HP Pavilion DV6700 won't boot

Possibly overheating? As you say that when you press and of the F-Key option nothing is happening, and also the fan is running at full power, if the fan is louder than usual, then it could be overheating in the air vents which you can find either at the sides, back, front and underneath the laptop, try getting the compressed air, and giving the air vents a blast to get all dust out. Or a vacuum. Do it whilst laptop is turned off though!

SOURCE: compaq 6735s notebook pc goes to HP screen, but wont boot

Hi,

First you need to determine how many blinks you are getting when you try to power on the laptop.
Check the blinking codes below and reason behind that for HP Compaq laptops

Blinking battery power LED Battery Insufficient charge on the battery
Blink: 1 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - CPU CPU not functional
Blink: 2 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - BIOS BIOS corruption failure
Blink: 3 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - Memory Module error not functional
Blink: 4 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - Graphics Graphics controller not functional
Blink: 5 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - System board General system board failure
Blink: 6 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - BIOS BIOS authentication failure

Plz get back so I can suggest you the steps to resolve the issue.

I just repaired my notebook and found that graphic card installed is Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family, i thought it had Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD. has it been changed or it is...

It may be listed differently because it would use the system memory to support the integrated graphics.
Time to update drivers also.

It is an integrated graphics card on the DV4.

Where can i get drivers for my Compaq Presario CQ50? I downgrade it from Windows Vista to Windows XP Home Edition. Thank you so much for your help.

Downgrading from Vista to XP is not a good choice. Specially HP Notebooks are not comaptible with retail version operating systems and its difficult to find the drivers and get it work.

I found a few. Please install in the same sequence and check. A restart is must after each driver installation.

How can I change the resolution from 1280 x 800? This is the highest possible according to the display setttings. I have removed the generic pNp monitor. I am running Vista Business. The display adapter is...

Graphics Unable to use the native resolution, such as 1920x1080, 1680x1050 and 1440x900 circuit388.gif Symptom(s):
On some displays, users may be unable to use the native resolution when using Intel® chipset graphics. Resolutions such as 1920x1080, 1680x1050, and 1440x900 are not available in graphics properties.

Cause:
The display's EDID is not read properly when connected to some digital flat panel displays. Display devices describe its capabilities by sending EDID (Extended Display Information Data) to the computer.

Solution:
Intel has released a graphics driver to specifically address this issue; however, there may be side effects to this solution such as longer than normal resume times from standby. This solution will only work with external displays such as DFP displays connected to the computer's VGA port. This driver is not designed to address issues with a notebook's built-in display (Local Flat Panel) or with TV’s connected to the system. This driver is provided as is. Intel has not tested, and does not guarantee, the operation of the driver for this purpose.
