Question about Karcher 2500 PSI Pressure Washer

1 Answer

I really appreciate the help and the information I have read so far. My Karcher K2400HH runs like heck until you release the trigger. Then, if I take the quick-connect nozzle off, pull the trigger and shoot a stream of water, I can then put the nozzle back on and it runs like heck again UNTIL I release the trigger. Then, it is the same process each time I release the trigger. Kind of frustrating.

Karcher G3050OH when trigger is released it can't be depressed again until machine is shut down. Pressure will release after shut down.

It sounds like you're not pulling hard enough. When the machine is running it's under great pressure you have to squeeze the trigger very hard

My Karcher 530M runs ok until I release the trigger, then it will not start again unless I switch and allow the water to run through for about 15 secs before switching on again

Hi Cliff:
My experience is that the pump pressures prevent the engine from starting, so we hold the trigger while starting.
My brother has cut a wedge of wood that he uses to jam the trigger open to bypass the problem. It can get a bit wild if the wand is not secured when the unit is started..

What is this problem - Karcher 3.86 electric pressure washer: humming noise, plug gets very hot, then unit shuts down?

Your pressure washer is either not fitted with a run/stop device in which case like mine you have to switch off within a few seconds of closing the trigger. Check your model features?
The humming noise is the motor stalled out against the pump because there is nowhere for the water to go. The shutoff is caused by the safety overload switching off after overheat.
Or, it has a pressure operated run/stop which is not working. Because water and electricity don't mix, I would suggest getting more specific help. You can download Karcher manuals /spares lists online from Karcher specialists but remember electricity is the silent killer.

I do not always have pressure. Water will com e out and when I do have pressure as long as I do not release the trigger it will continue to have pressure. When I let off the trigger and the press it again...

What you have is a sticking unloader or in the case of some equipment a spill valve. Depending on the machine that you have you will either need to replace or lubricate the valve. This is most common on home owner style Karcher units with the following model numbers.

K2300G 1.194-110.0
K2400HB 1.194-303.0
K2400HH 1.194-302.0
K2400HH-Q/C 1.194-301.0
K2401HH/G 1.194-305.0
K5800G-PL 1.194-104.0
K5800G 1.194-103.0, 1.194-102.0

For instructions on repairing the units with these model numbers please visit:

Select:
Maintenance/Karcher/Pressure Washer/All/Spill valve lubrication.

This will walk you through all the steps necessary to correct the problem.

Lost pressure let handle go spits out 1 second of pressure then no pressure

What you are describing is an unloader valve failure. The unloader valve (also called a spill valve or safety pressure relief valve) is sticking in what is known as bypass. Your pump is able to build pressure but when the trigger is squeezed, rather than directing the flow up to the nozzle it is looping the pressure back through the pump as it does when you release the trigger. Depending on the specific brand and model you will need to either replace the unloader or lubricate it if it is a Karcher with a spill valve. If it is a Karcher there is a known issue with the following models:

K2300G1
K2400HB
K2400HH
K2401HH
K5800G
K5800G

All of these have an issue where the spill valve sticks and will need to be lubricated with Vaseline or lithium grease. You can view a guide for this process at http://www.landanorthwest.com/dms. Select Maintenance/Karcher/Pressure Washers/All/Spill valve lubrication.

Karcher 2400 psi blaster When you release the trigger it will not pick up pressure when you use it again

To determine if your problem is due to an easily replaceable part, follow these steps:

1. Connect the water supply hose, the pressure hose, and the wand WITHOUT any nozzle tip.

2. Turn on the water supply, and press the trigger until water is smoothly running out of the nozzle
after any air is all purged out. Release the nozzle trigger.

3. Start the engine, and let it warm up for about 30 seconds.

4. With the engine running smoothly, press the nozzle trigger. The water should flow out of the nozzle (without the tip installed) at a faster rate, while the engine noticeably loads down as it used to do before your "no pressure" problem. If it does not load down, turn it OFF, and disconnect everything, and contact a Karcher repair facility.

5. If the engine does load down, release the trigger, and install one of the nozzle tips (not the black one).

6. Press the trigger, and the engine should load down, and you should have normal pressure from the wand. After you release the trigger and press it again, you will probably again have no pressure, and the engine will not load down. Removing the nozzle tip, pressing & releasing the trigger, and re-installing the tip should give you normal pressure again, but releasing the trigger will cause no pressure until you again remove the tip, press the trigger, and re-install the tip.

This is caused by a bad UNLOADER VALVE, which is located under a black cap with a metal button on it located on the top front of the pump. I don't know if you can purchase the replaceable parts from a Karcher repair shop, but when a neighbor & I took his washer to a repair place, it looked pretty simple to do this repair, and he was charged about $60 to replace a $5 (maybe) part, and it took about 5 minutes.
