Battery

For some reason my recorder will not work off of batteries. It works when pluged into the ac but if I unplug the ac it shuts off. I have tried serveral batteries and also have a charger that charges the batteries away from the camera so I know the batteries are fully charged and the camera will not turn on with batteries. I have cleaned the contacts and still not luck.
