Probably 'malware' (installed by software you wanted to have)
when some software is installed, 'free' software is also installed, Like toolbars and security software. They always run in the background, or when a browser is opened. Then they 'maintain' settings (I.e. search page & home page settings).
-disable toolbars in browser (that you don't want/use)
-diable/uninstall/remove software/features that you don't use
("always run" / "auto start")
-check your AV: McAfee/AVG/Norton. They also maintain your
search/home address settings.
if you notice new icons by the clock (that you don't need/use) remove/disable/uninstall the problem program.
It appears on the desktop? In IE? Toolbar are killers on broswer speed. I would delete/remove/disable it. Open Control Panel, Internet Options, Programs tab, Manage Add ons, Toolbars and Extentions, disable the toolbar.
Each browser you have on your computer has different homepages. You may need to set the homepage manually. As for an unwanted toolbar you can remove those by going to view>toolbars and unselecting the toolbar or right clicking on the browser background and unselecting the toolbar. Hopefully this helped, and if I misunderstood please respond with further explanation of your problem.
In your Word if Avery add-on is installed correctly you should see Avery option in your View/Toolbars. and you have to activate it to see on your toolbar If missed you have to reinstall the add-on: be sure to use the version for your specific MSOffice version.
