Remember most circular saws are a reverse thread. First step is to make sure the saw is unplugged. If your saw does not have an arbor lock than stick a medium sized screwdriver in one of the teeth of the blade near the base of the saw, this will lock the blade in place so you can tighten the blade.

Macallister chop saw blade problem, the motor runs but when half way through cutting wood the blade stops ?

I'm not sure if you have a chop saw or circular saw. Either way, it sounds like the nut and washer are not tight enough to hold the blade. If you have a circular saw clockwise will tighten the nut and washer onto the blade and hold it in place. Most chop saws are a left hand thread and then you would turn the nut counter clockwise to hold the blade tighter. The blade wobbles because it is not tight.

Circular saw motor turns when tightening saw blade

Insert a tool such as a screwdriver across the blade guard and against a tooth to prevent blade rotation, then tighten the blade nut. Be sure to remove the wedging device before operating the saw

Lost my manual for my 7 1/4 inch circular saw with laser light. Can you simply tell me how to tighten the blade? Thanks Jean

Hi Jean,
Unplug the saw.
# 1: First look for a blade break mine is at the front of the saw.
# 2: Some blades have a hole for a nail.Turn the saw blade down so that you can put a nail through so it catches on the body or Gard when you turn the wrench.
# 3: Use a nail in the gullet : curved space in front of the tooth (o<----nail 9k=to loosen just move the nail to the right side of the blade. My saw doesn't call for total tightening so it wont hurt the motor if it hangs up.If your saw blade has any blue spots it's dull and you need a new one.Thank You for choosing FixYa.com----Darryel

Cannot tighten blade on old craftsman circular saw.bolt turns blade shaft and motor without tighting blade

Is the washer/spacer in the blade too thick and you are perhaps tightening up on that instead of the blade. Also check the threads on the bolt, see if the bolt turns all the way in without the blade in position. It may be jamming up before gripping the blade.

Can't tighten circular saw blade, actually when it tight the blade is blocked and if I loosen it, is too loose.

You need to use the correct (reduction) ring adapter for the cicular blade you intend to use: the adapter 'washer' needs to be the exact size for the middle blade hole and the motor shaft. If ensure, as it is a lethal tool, ask your friendly hardware shop handyman for advise and direction.

Hope it helps.

Ryobi 18v circular saw owners manual - blade is loose!

Usually there is a button to press that locks the shaft arbor and then you use a wrench to tighten OFTEN is a left hand thread!

Check for lock button behind the blade guard toward the motor.
