Question about Black & Decker Bread Machine

1 Answer

My bread maker is the one with two paddles. I put the ingredients in, and I plug it in. The normal beeping sound comes on and when I set it, the paddles won't turn. I really would like to resolve this problem.

Have you tried waiting about 10 or 15 minutes after you push start? Some bread machines are very sophisticated and gently warm-up your ingredients for 5 or 10 minutes before they begin kneading.

My bread maker paddle is turning correctly, but it is not mixing the ingredients. We put liquids in first. The first time we used it, it was perfect?

You may have too dry or too watery a batter. Check your ingredient mix for accurate measurements.
Recheck the unit without ingredients in place to be absolutely sure you have the paddle seated correctly. Although most are designed to make it very hard to put the paddle on incorrectly, old dough or batter may harden in place and keep the paddle form fully seating correctly.

Is there anything I can do?

I don't know about your specific model, but in most bread makers there is a removable paddle that goes in the bottom of the bread pan after you put that in the machine. The paddle usually has a flattened side on the hole which slides on to the post sticking up from the bottom of the machine. If you look at the post straight down from above it should be D shaped. The usual procedure is to put the pan in the machine, install the paddle, and then add your ingredients. Assuming you are doing this and it is still not working, trying running it through a mix only cycle (like for pizza dough) with the machine empty to see if the paddle is engaging and spinning properly. If it is not, contact the manufacturer for assistance.

Bread maker paddle won t turn

You may need to replace your belt. Sometimes belts will slip if they are older models. Newer bread machines have belts with tiny teeth or cogs in them that align with the cogs on the pulley wheels. They don't slip like the older serpentine belts. sometimes a new belt will help. There are several videos on you tube of how to replace and install bread machine belts.

Hi, If you are doing everything as before and not getting the desired results then it could be that the belts are slipping and not allowing the paddles to fully incorporate all the ingredients. Either that or the paddles themselves are sticking and not moving freely. The belt problem is an easy fix but if the paddles are sticking then it could be the sealed bearings the paddles rotate in is failing and a new bread pan is needed. To check this, take the empty pan and paddles out of the machine and see if you can turn the paddles freely by hand. if no then the sealed bearings are failing. If they turn okay then it could be the belts. Belts and motor are located in the base of the machine. Unplug machine before checking them. Also, make sure the pan is seated correctly in the machine. The ingredients aren't mixing. I have to take the dough out and

My experience with the machine is that it kneads perfectly, but you have to use ACTIVE DRY YEAST instead of another kind of yeast, and you have to throw the ingredients into the pan in order - do not mix the ingredients at all - just pour them in, and let the machine do the mixing. Except for substituting between BREAD FLOUR and WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR, do not substitute any other ingredients. This one is very picky about the type of ingredients that you use - not for the innovator :-)

What is a kneading paddle in tr441breadman

It mixes the dough. All you do is put the ingredients into the bread maker, turn it on and wait. It will do all the work for you.

Before loading the pan with ingredients, try turning the paddle by hand.  If it's very stiff, perhaps soak in water for a while and see if that softens the hardened dough or flour around the base of the paddle.  That could be preventing smooth turning.
