Question about LG RC199H DVD Recorder/VCR
This suggests a problem with the laser pick up on the unit which is failing to read the video DVD.
This may be down to a fault with the laser or a misaligned pickup but quite often it is caused by debris such as particles of dust or even the slightest accumulation or film of dirt can cause the laser lens to malfunction.
You can either clean the lens using a Q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol but this will involve opening the case on the unit to gain access to the lens or alternatively use a DVD cleaning disk such as this one.
Simply insert the disk like a normal DVD and it performs a cleaning action to the laser lens.
The Q-tip method is usually more effective but is more involved. The cleaning disk is effective on a slightly opaque lens and the disk is not expensive so you might want to try this first.
Hope it helps. Thanks for using FixYa
