Sony Cybershot says

My camera will turn on, but then it just shows access and the lens willgo out as if it turns on, but then closes as if it is shutting off, then it will do that 3 more times, then it says turn off then turn onagain, so I do that, but it does the same exact thing. What is wrongwith it?

When the camera power is turn on the lens turns on and again shuts off three or so times and then finally shuts off .It simultaneously displays access and then finally displays, "Turn the power off and on again". On doing the same the problem still persists. Otherwise the rest of the functions are fine.

Turn it on and then take the end of the lense and gently pull and twist the lense you may hear it click but dont force it then turn it off and on again this may solve your problem

Sounds like your lens has issues. Probably some debris/sand got into it or maybe it suffered a
Jolt of some sort. Whatever the case maybe you will need to get your Lens serviced.
Sometimes if you use a case the camera may have turned on inside the case and caused
lens damage.

Sony Cybershot Lens Stuck inside!!!

I have the exact same problem with my Cyber-shot; the lens is stuck inside. After trying everything to loosen it (like wedging a razor knife between the sections, even dropping it or banging it against a book, etc) non of which I recommend, I finally got it open by PUSHING on the black telescoping section surrounding the lens itself. For some reason, this worked!

Sony cybershot DSC-W50 lens problen

thats normal.
it just doesn't have enough power to bring the lense back in.
once you charge your battery and turn it on the lense will automatically come back in and then out for you to take a picture.

Problem*cybershot DSC-S40

You have a jammed lens error the lens has to be repaired or replaced. You dont have to drop the camera for this to occur it can happen when ever the camera is in your pocket or purse. it accidently gets turned on and when the lens is coming out it is obstructed and strips the little plactic gears in the lens.

Lens Stuck

Same problem guys!!! LENS HAD GOT STUCK - ABOUT ONE THIRD OUT after a knock. After lots of playing, and tapping and batteries in and out tried the whole twisting and pulling thing whilst turning off and on.

After a few minutes it came free and whole lens popped out. I then had to twist the outer part of the lens to straighten that up and allow it to fully retract. Works a treat now!

PS Tried the Sony online chat support - useless!!!!
