It can be a variety of things, My first guess would be the Brushes and second would be the switch. Both are normal wear item and fairly simple to replace on most saws. You can attempt to replace yourself or take it to an Authorized DeWalt repair facility. You can order the parts or find a repair facility at www.dewaltservicenet.com

I was cutting a plywood and pulled the saw back through the cut, before the blade came to a complete stop. Now it will not turn on. Is there a reset switch or a failsafe that tripped when I did that?

Good afternoon Rebecca.

Some of the answer will depend on your make/model. Saws will generally have some failsafes inside to keep them from getting damaged, but lets start with what you have. You say you pulled the blade back through the cut before the blade came to a stop. That was probably OK - you generally don't want to stop the saw in the middle of material since it might pinch or jam against incoming wood.

If there is not motion, the foremost question is whether it's a saw problem or a power problem. To that end (please be careful here - unexpected saw starts can hurt you very badly)
  1. With the saw unplugged, can you move the blade at all? There may be a fair amount of resistance through the worm gear to the motor, but it should move. If it's totally jammed, you may want to try removing the blade and checking for debris jammed in the saw
  2. If the saw is plugged into another outlet that you know has power, will it turn on? If not, focus on the saw, if it works, focus first on the outlet.
  3. Is there power to the outlet? Plug something else that you know works into the outlet and see if it will turn on. If not... check if it's a GFI outlet and try resetting the breaker buton in the middle of the outlet. Then check the breaker panel that serves that plug and see if a breaker tripped. this could be particularly possible if it's a 15 amp circuit and you were, say, cutting a heavy thickness of plywood. Try re-setting the breaker then and see if the outlet turns back to life.
Some saws may have an overheat breaker, which will require you to just let the saw cool for a while. others may have a fuse, but the location will depend on the particulars of the model.

Hoping this helps.
Good Luck!

The dryer inadvertantly stops, the power cuts off and then inadvertantly comes back on. This causes the dryer to stop - then needs to be restarted when the power seems to return. The level has been...

Check your plug! I would guess that either the plug is loose or there is a wire loose in the outlet that vibrates off the terminal.

NOTE while you have it unplugged use a #2 eraser to clean corrosion off the prongs of the plug.

My Mr. Coffee IDS59 coffee grinder suddenly stopped working. It is only a few months old. The blades turn freely when manually turned. Any helpful ideas?

Unfortunately this probably means that the AC Motor within the device has shorted out. These motors will still allow the blade/shaft to move even if a fault has occurred. It is unlikely, but possible that this particular model is built in such a way that a replaceable fuse is accessible to the operator. More then likely however the motor will have 'burnt' out and will no longer function no matter what you try.
Try to check the power cord for nicks and check that the outlet functions correctly. Lastly check that the power switch is properly operational. If all of this seems in working order then you are stuck with a non-functional device.

Check the wiring in the units junction box. Its located at the bottom right corner. You will likely find melted connectors. If so, you need to cut the wires back and replace these connectors. Make sure you turn the power off before doing any of this work of course. Good Luck.

Seem to be a power problem. Leave your printer unplugged a while. Connect it again and see if the power comes up. Check the power strip outlet, change it for a different one or connect the printer to another outlet on the wall. If still not working your printer needs to be serviced or replaced
