I bought an hp c7280 at a garage sale. It did not have the installation cd. Please advise how to install the printer without the cd.

For you to install your software without the cd follow these steps:
-Go to www.hp.com -Click on the support & drivers link at the upper right hand part of the homepage -Click on the green box for Support & Drivers -Type in C7280 in the product/model number box -Please select your Operating system ** To verify what is your Operating System click START> right click on My Computer then click on Properties. -on Step 2. click on Driver and under it click on HP Photosmart Full Feature Software & Drivers -click on the Downlaod button on the next page -Click on Save -Once the download is finished just Run or double click on the file that you have downloaded and follow the on screen instructions. Please upgrade your IE 7 to IE 8, reinstall the HP software for your printer. IE 8 available from Microsoft at no charge.

Check the make and model number for your scanner and go to the manufacturers web site. All major brand companies have web sites with driver download support.

I have had a similar problem that appeared soon after an automatic HP software update over the internet. I solved the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the HP software that came with the CD. I inserted the CD and ran the de-install for only the program that controlled print and scan and then re-installed the software for print and scan. Straight afterwards, the scanning started to work again

It's simple.  Go to the manufacturer website and search for the printer drivers (i.e if the printer is a HP then goto www.hp.com).  after you get the drivers, all you need to do is install the drivers, then add a printer in the printer properties.  Or if you would like further assistance, you can choose me as your tech in Live Chat and I can walk you thru the process.

Do a Google search using the follwing string:

(brand Name) (Model Number) +driver

This will bring up a list of sites from where you can download the driver for your printer. Install the driver and the printer will be ready to print (if all else is OK).
