Hi,

THis is because your notebook is missing the driver for the sound card or it may be that the sound card is loose. if it is the driver you would have t download that and if it is the sound card being loose you would have to open the notebook and tighten it into place.

please rate me. thank you.

My laptop fell a couple of days ago and since then there's no sound.

If it works but you get no sound, you should thank almighty that miracle happened. Most laptops never "survive" a drop..
Normally laptops have audio integrated to motherboard, so there is nothing servicable for ordinary users.
Guess your solution might be to use an external USB audio card.
Your internal speakers won't work buy you'll be able to listen through extenal speakers or a headphone

I bought an Hp m9152p with a vista 64bit os about 2 years ago, and the sound card just stopped working a couple days ago. There is no response when I plug in any audio device(speakers or headphones) in the...

if it is built into the motherboard you cannot change it wthout changing the motherboard.
I assume you are using Windows (prob Vista on machine age)
go to the control panel - sounds and run the test - sometimes that fixes sound issues
if not uninstall the driver and let windows find the hardware and re-install it.
Let me know if you are still having problems.

Dell Studio 17 windows 7/ Sound disappeared completely.

The best thing to do would be a system restore. You might have installed some software or changed some settings which made the sound disappear.

Click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore and follow the on screen instructions.

PC sound does not work

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
It might be due to one of the following reasons:
Simple but valid, the Sound is muted from the Windows Sound control or from the laptop.
The sound card driver is mal functioning.
There might be a virus, that had corrupted the files and drivers for the sound card.
There might be some hardware error.

Do cross check all possibilities one by one. You will definitely overcome the problem.
Best of Luck,

Do RATE the solution, If found Helpful,

Concerned.

IBM T30 Thinkpad sound system failure

Thinkpad is a laptop. Very few laptops have "removable" sound cards. Sorry, but I think that applies to you. After opening many different Thinkpads (and the new Lenovo versions) I have never seen a separate sound card... the sound chip (usually AC97 standard chip, or Intel) is integrated into the motherboard. Newer laptops often have one or two small PCI card slots, but this is usually occupied by WIFI cards. Never seen a PCI sound card for laptop mini PCI slots either. HOWEVER, there is one solution available to you: There are many old PCMCIA cards with full Sound Blaster or AC97 sound, that provide excellent 32-bit digital sound. Search in an old used PC hardware bin, or buy a new one on line by searching for "PCMCIA sound card". Prices are very low. Good luck, let me know if you find one, please.
