Question about Brother MFC 1850MC Thermal Printer

How to Erase Faxes in Memory

I get too many junk faxes, so I set my Brother MFC 1850 MC's fax storage to ON, with the intention of later erasing the faxes stored in memory without having to print them. However, upon entering the command to ERASE, the machine will print all stored faxes before erasing them, which defeats the purpose.
Any way to overide this? thanx.

This message means the memory capacity of the unit has been exceeded. The amount of memory used depends on the amount or type of data on the documents being faxed or copied.
  1. If you get an "Out of Memory" message while scanning the first page of a fax, press Stop/Exit to cancel scanning.
  2. If you get an "Out of Memory" message while scanning a subsequent page, you can either press Fax Start to transmit the pages that were scanned so far or press Stop/Exit to cancel the operation.

OUR FAX SAYS 98% MEMORY FULL SOMETIMES WHEN THEY TRY TO FAX SOMETHING. HOW DO I CLEAR THE MEMORY? NATALIE

Press Menu, 2, 5, 2. The screen prompts you to choose a fax setting. Press <-- or --> to select OFF then press SET. If there are faxes in memory when you turn Fax Storage to OFF, the LCD prompts you to erase faxes in memory. If you press 1, all fax data is erased and Fax Storage is turned OFF.

You may want to enable Real Time TX so you can send fax without using memory. (Under FAX-SETUP SEND-REAL TIME TX)

You may also disable Fax Storage if you don't want to store incoming faxes in memory for remote retrieval (Under FAX- REMOTE FAX OPT-FAX STORAGE)

For effective use of the memory, you may also clear the caller IDs stored in the memory. Press MENU, 2, 0, 2 Press the arrow keys to display # then press CLEAR.

Hope this helps!
