Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console

Yes Please show pictures

If you could show me pictures it would be great. I tried to take it apart and put the ribbon back but there doesn't seem to be a clip to hold the ribbon in place. I think maybe I broke it off when it came apart. Is this true?

I want to change the top screen

First you need a tri wing screwdriver and a cross screwdriver. You can get both on ebay. Then their are seven screws four tri wing and three cross. You will need to pry the back off be very careful.Start on the side that doesn't have the on off switch and work your way around.Once you have the back off unscrew the two cross screws that hold the logic board on.Then unplug the white and black wifi and mic wires they snap on and off. Then flip the logic board over by pushing the bottom screen out.On the other side is where the ribbon for the top screen is.To get the hinge apart their are two more cross screws in the top left corner take them out that releases the hinge.very carefully roll the ribbon so you can get it through the metal ring and the wires pull the wires first.to get the top apart the four cross screws are above and below the speakers under those small squares.A needle will get them out easily .Once you get the screws out then slid the back of the top up 1/8 of an inch then pull the back off carefully. You need to push the screen out and unsolder the speaker wires or use new ones.Make sure when putting it back together you roll the new ribbon the right way look at the old one to find out .Getting the old ribbon out and the new one in is a little difficult so take it all apart first and get the wires out then the ribbon and put the ribbon in first.

NDS Lite dont run or only completely opened

most likely its the top screen ribbon.Because when you open the ds all the way it might push the ribbon in just enough to be read but when not open it cant read the top screen and it will shut down.I have instructions on how to change a top screen you can use them to put the ribbon back in. the only difference is you don't need to unplug the white and black wires.First you need a tri wing screwdriver and a cross screwdriver. You can get both on ebay. Then their are seven screws four tri wing and three cross. You will need to pry the back off be very careful.Start on the side that doesn't have the on off switch and work your way around.Once you have the back off unscrew the two cross screws that hold the logic board on.Then unplug the white and black wifi2_bing.gif and mic wires they snap on and off. Then flip the logic board over by pushing the bottom screen out.On the other side is where the ribbon for the top screen is.To get the hinge apart their are two more cross screws in the top left corner take them out that releases the hinge.very carefully roll the ribbon so you can get it through the metal ring and the wires pull the wires first.to get the top apart the four cross screws are above and below the speakers2_bing.gif under those small squares.A needle will get them out easily .Once you get the screws out then slid the back of the top up 1/8 of an inch then pull the back off carefully.

Touchscreen does not rspond...

I am quoteing this from another user on here jetsetjim

on the top right hand side of the screen just under the front there are four or five contact pads this is where the touch screen get the info from the touch screen to the ds itself if you have taken the ds apart maybe the pads are slightly out of line this can be fixed by applying light pressure to the pads to make them stick down and get a proper contact

Power button loosely slides

Yes. The switch has broken and is replaceable. However I wouldn't recommend you do it unless you've done this before. DS Lites are easy to damage further when taking them apart. It's a great system but is easily broken beyond fixing. Look at all the posts on here from people putting new shells on and now the system won't boot up, broken ribbon cable connectors, etc. If it's under a year old contact Nintendo and they will repair it for free.

PS2 won't work, red light comes on, buttons don't respond

Sounds like the ribbon cable is ether damaged or not in the slot all the way.. that clicking sound you hear is common after extended use, all mine make the same sound ..try opening it up one more time and check the ribbon ends i know it's a pain but might be worth your time. pulling them out too hard can damage the ends.some time's putting them they seem like there in all the way but it might not be in straight.REMEMBER BENT FOLDED FLAT CABLES = problems.

Nintendo ds damaged ribbon cable

You can't buy a ribbon for the bottom screen. (You can buy the ribbon that connects the motherboard to the daughter board which connects the top screen.). A new screen is the answer but be very careful when taking off the touch screen. Gently pry the two screens apart or else you will need a new touch screen. Also make a note of how the touch screen is attached to the LCD screen, as the touch screen is not the same size as the LCD screen. How have you damaged the ribbon? Could it be that it may not be pushed tight and straight into the connector? BTW the top and bottom LCD screens are the same. Some unscrupulous dealers have been charging differing amounts for 'Top' or 'Bottom' screens!
