DVD/CD Drive won't operate anymore on a E Machines W5243

E Machines W5243 DVD+/-R/W/RAM/CD-RW drive has suddenly stopped running any discs (games, programs, music, video, etc.). It will open (lights up) and close, then seems to try to read the disc (it lights up). BUT then the green light stops flashing and...NOTHING...until you eject the disc again.

I need to know if my DVD Drive can burn dual layer Discs. The Discs are DVD+R DL and my dvd drive is an Optiarc DVD RW AD-7200A ATA. Thanks

Hi anternidrumm,

According to the site below, the drive can burn dual layers discs:

"The 20x DVD multi writer opens up new dimensions for flexible read and write functions. This high-performance DVD/CD-burner is able to read your DVDs at a speed of 16x and CDs at 48x. It also brings fascinating dynamics into play when writing your blank disks. Now it can even write DVD-R DL two layer media at 12x, while reaching a speed of up to 20x for DVD+R and DVD-R. DVD+R9 and DVD+RWs are processed at 8x and DVD-RWs at 6x. And DVD-RAM can be recorded with up to 12x DVD speed. So how fast can it burn my CDs, you might ask? Even here, with speeds of 48x (CD-R) and 32x (CD-RW), it’s at the top of its class."

Computer DVD/CD Drive does not recognise any discs

The most likely cause is a faulty DVD drive. Replacing the DVD drive is fairly simple.

You can buy a new one online for around $25 including shipping. If you need help finding a drive or installing a drive, I can help with that. Just let me know.

1. check your system meets the requirements for your device:
• Minimum system requirements: 800 MHz Intel® Pentium® III
processor or equivalent, 1.6 GHz Intel® Pentium® IV processor or
equivalent recommended (Actual drive performance depends on PC
configuration)
• 128 MB RAM (256 MB RAM recommended for video editing)
• 1024 x 768 video resolution with a minimum of 16-bit color required

2. Have you install the sowftware that came with your device?
3. is your system recognizing the hard drive (go to start>run>type devmgmt.msc and press enter> and look under cd/dvd rom drives... is your device listed? is it showing with a ? unknown device or a ! next to it's name?
a. if the device is not listed chances are you didn't set up the jumper correcly when installing the device or the device may not be powered or there's an issue with the data cable connectd to the device and the motherboard, check your physical setup.

• Device write media compatibility: CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+R DL,

Cd-rw/dvd drive broke a computer game disk. got all the pieces out but now computer does not recognize drive and drive wont close. green light doesnt come on. Its a cd-rw/dvd drive ts-h493. what do i do?

This is due to the cracked disc is damage the sensor inside your cd-rw/dvd drive. If still under waranty, you can send it to warranty claim. If it's over warranty, then you have to replace with a new one.

whether

Invalid field in parameter
E: MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-860S

ACTION! :)
Change in method of recording NERO 8 Burning mode: DAO (Disc-at-once) at Burning mode: TAO (Track-At-Once) all have established!
Simply drive MATSHITA was UNSUPPORTED software producers to write disks.
Updating the software to burn CDs, as is windows XP supports the recording and includes drivers for the drive! :)
