Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Hello. I was given a dishwasher, whirlpool ADP 755. I've had it about a year and finally got it plumbed in yesterday, so excited! Not having ever had a dishwasher before, i'm uncertain what to do and i cant find a manual online. I tried putting some cups in it and running it on all the different settings on the dial but each time the cups are still dirty. The machine is steamy so looks like hot water is passing through, but its clicking through all the programs very quickly and leaving stuff dirty, basically, i have no idea how it works or what i need to do! Please help. Thanks so much.

SOURCE: dishwasher not draining

if you hold the start button in it should reset, possible cause could be a blockage in the pump or drain outlet under the sink where the drain hose connects.hope this helps.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Gold quiet partner III, leaves dirty, greasy dishes

Ifixall is correct. I also learned several things with the apartment buildings I maintain.

1. the screen or pump trap must also be cleaned regularly to make sure there is no debris, food etc stuck in there.

2. The spray arms must be free of debris or obstructions.

3. Jet dry solution must be filled or has some solution in it.

4. Water must be hot

5. Scraping dishes and prewash them before putting them into dishwasher.

6 install water softner sometimes helps. (I don't know how true this is, since I am unable to do this in our buildings)

7 drain line must be picked up, or secured to prevent backwash.

8. MAKE sure that the lower rack is not obstructing the sprayer arms. Sometimes overloading dishwashers will cause dishes not being cleaned properly.

9. if all else fails, a service technician can come out to determine if the dishwasher is operating properly.

SOURCE: The dishwasher runs, but never seems to wash the dishes!

Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

Concerning the drainage issue(left over water at the bottom)

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

Dishwashing machine whirlpool electronic control ADP 4520

Check the Water Indicator (WI).
When you think it should be enough water, unplug WI connector from control board and check if on WI connector is closed contact (WI written on the control board housing). If not, try with some more water. And so on. When too much water with no contact on WI, it is the one to be replaced by new one.
NOTE: by every check UNPLUG the machine

The F4 error code on your washer indicates a problem in the electrical circuits of the washer... and not end-user repairable.
