Question about Tomtom ONE LE Car GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Hi, My TOMTOM ONE does not recognize its SD card; I think It's not the slot as when the card is out it asks for it, but when it's in there's just an alert-symbol showing the SD cancelled in red... I got this machine from a friend, I don't think he still has a backup . The card is 241 Mo full of files, from a Win-explorer" point of view all seems OK . What should I do ?? Many thanks.

Hello there

The memory card may be locked and that has made it unreadable,to unlock your SD card please do the following;

Slide the switch on the left-hand side of the SD card. If the switch is broken, proceed to the next step.

Affix a small piece of tape or paper to the top half of the gap where the slider should be. Do not permanently affix the paper as of yet.

Try the card in your computer, using the USB converter stick. If the items on the SD card are available, copy them to your computer as a precaution. If that did not solve the problem, proceed to next Step

Remove the tape or paper and reattach it to the other side of the gap if you mistakenly attached it to the wrong side. If you are actually trying to unlock a micro or mini SD card, proceed to next Step

Toggle the switch on the left side of your SD Adapter if you are trying to unlock a micro or mini SD card. Micro and mini cards do not have switches. Instead, insert a micro or mini card into an unlocked SD Adapter to work with stored data. SD Adapters look very much like SD cards and the switch works the same way.

If this does not solve the problem then the memory card is corrupt and should be reformatted to do that;

Insert the into your SD card reader on a system.

Right-click "Start." Click "Explore."

Right-click the SD card. Click "Format."

Choose the "FAT32" file system from the drop down menu and click "Start" to reformat the corrupt card.

This should solve the problem.

Device not recognized by computer

Lots of folks having this problem with many different TomTom Models, mine was with a GO630.

Do a "reset" on the unit, use a paperclip or somesuch and hold the reset button on your TomTom in for about 5 seconds, and the unit will rrset and will be recognized by your computer.

Tom tom one xl wont accept SD card with map on

If you have TomTom that have the slot for SD card, then it should accepted the SD card. The instruction for how to use the SD card is simple, but it is hidden in the TomTom Home, that's why it's difficult to find it. Below are the instruction how to use the SD card.

1. Format the SD card (FAT32) and do not stick the SD in the slot yet
2. Run Backup (connect TomTom device to computer)
3. Disconnect TomTom from computer and turn off
4. Slide the SD into the slot and connect TomTom back to computer (choose "yes")
5. In the TomTom Home menu, Choosen Backup & Restore >>> and choosen Restore

TomTom Home will add all applications to the SD card. So the internal memory still have the applications and the SD card also had the same applications. Everytime you slide the card in, TomTom will automatic detect and use it as its primary storage, if it not detect, you can go to the device menu and pick the device to connect to.
Whenver you take the SD card out, then TomTom will use its internal memory.

Hope this helpful

Max. Mem. Card

I think you will find that the tomtom one 3rd edition is a sealed unit.
No SD slot.
But it does have 1GB of RAM for storage and 32MB RAM for system use.
Pretty much the same internal architecture as an early handheld PC.
All updates are done through USB.
Hope this information is useful.
