Question about HP OfficeJet 6110 All-In-One InkJet Printer

FAx Line will not pick up or send faxes on HP 6110 All in One Officejet

I have a HP 6110 All in One Officejet and it will not receive or send faxes. I have a seperate phone numer for the fax and my home phone but they are on the same phone line. I called the phone company and they told me to change my fax line to double rings pattern for it to answer to. But I am having trouble receiving the faxes because I also have a answering machine on a AT&T phone and it may be messing up my fax line. I tried to change the number of rings it pick up to 2,4, and 8 and it still will not pick up a fax and send it thru. I also have DSL on my computer and this is connected also with a router. Any suggestions would be appreciated. My e-mail address is mckrjk@yahoo.com Thank You RJK

fix: try, unplug power from back of unit then hit the pound and number three, then while holding those buttons, plug power back in & continue holding until reset info comes on.

My HP 6110 all-in-one will recieve faxes but will not send. It will send page one and while transmitting page 2, the fax freezes and all the lights start flashing and nothing happens. It then sends an error report saying fax did not go through. I have reset the machine, but no change. Any suggestions would be appreciated. drlance

Hi,

it seems like you have lots of services on your line. here are the things that i want you to follow to somehow resolve the issue.

1. Press the setup button on your printer, then use the arrow down button to scroll down and go to ADVANCE FAX SETUP.
2. Press okay on Advance fax setup, then it will give you options.
3. The first option is DISTINCTIVE RINGS, press okay on that.
4. It will give you first option "DISTINCTIVE RING", scroll down and look for "answer on double rings" then press okay. then try letting someone send you a fax.

Note: make sure that your answering machine is using your home telephone line so that it wont affect the faxing functionality.

1. if the issue still not resolve, try to press setup, then go to TOOLS.
2. press okay on TOOLS and it will give you options, scroll down using the arrow down button and look for RUN FAX TEST.
3. Check the result of the test if everything passed!

Let me know if the issue still not resolve so that i can go ahead and give you additional steps.

thank you so much.

Wont send message. Error no 442

This error indicates that the receiving machine (receiver) cannot receive the fax you just sent. The reasons might be unexpected shutdown of the machine (Receiver's machine) just before it completely received [or partially printed] the file you had sent or power failure during the process.
Another reason is, when we send color fax from Hp machine to another Machine (non-hp), this happens due to incompatibility issue.
Solutions are;
1. Restart both the machine after deleting the recently sent/received fax.
2. Send black and white only, not color.
3. Try again after the phone line seems not much busy which means when there's better transmission capability.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

HP6110 All in one

When the HP Office jet series all-in-one front panel screen displays Memory Full, the HP Office jet all-in-one is not able to send, receive or forward faxes. Copying will also not work. WORKAROUND: Though the memory buffer should clear itself automatically after proceeding with the next task, like receiving a fax or starting a copy job, these suggestions below may help you clearing the memory buffer by:
  • Add paper to the HP Officejet series paper tray
  • Clear a possible print jam and proceed printing the fax.
  • Reduce the copying or faxing resolution via the front panel's menu.
  • Use the HP Manager to send a (group) fax or making a copy. More memory is available this way, as the HP Manager utilizes the PC memory. When sending a group fax, the HP Officejet all-in-one's memory is filled to capacity. To copy in color is only possible from the HP Officejet Manager.
  • Press START to clear the message. If this message persists, unplug the power cord, and after at least 15 seconds plug the power cord in.
CAUSE: The HP Officejet series memory may be full due to: Copying on Photo quality or sending a group dial, which will use an extensive part of the internal memory's capacity. No paper in the paper supply tray, while receiving a fax. This may result that the data remains in the buffer. Print jam while receiving a fax or copying. The data is still stored in the buffer. System error displayed on the HP Officejet display window. SUMMARY: The HP Officejet series will not fax or copy without sufficient memory to store the data of the page in the buffer before printing the receiving fax or the copy.

How do I fix an "error 442" on the fax part of my hp 6110 all-in-one

Per HP:

Definition

An error occurred during transmission after one or more partial pages were sent. The sending machine was unable to restart the control channel connection(handshake) before sending more data. This error typically occurs when the receiving fax disconnects after receiving part of a page. It can also be caused if the receiving fax is using a fax format incompatible with the HP fax (usually during color faxing).

Solution

Try the fax at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved.

Have you tried to use the machine on a normal phone line? A dsl line shouldn't be any different as far as fax machines are concerned.

HP Officejet 6110 all-in-one fax/scanner

Not sure what the problem is exactly. You say that your line is good and you successfully sent a fax using the machine but then you said you can't receive or send...apparently using the phone jack you have available for your machine. It should work using any phone jack you have available in your place.

HP.com has a web page that contains a wide variety of fax troubleshooting steps that may help you. Sorry I can't be more specific, but without knowing more about the problem, this is my best suggestion:

Post back your results and good luck.
