Trailing cable burns

The smoking and melting cable are the result of a short cicuit.
The problem is going to be determining which end the short is occuring on. It most likely is the carriage end of the cable that is the culprit. Most likely you will need to replace the carriage assembly and of course the trailing cable as the new one may have also been damaged.
You may need to use your fingers to check if the top of the carriage assembly (where the cable connects) is also getting hot (warmer than normal).

Hp designjet 500plus ,first time i change carriage belt ,but now it shown allignment error..

Two thing you need to check:
1. Are you replaced genuine carriage belt?.. Original belt having two type of inner tracks.. Right side horizontal & left side vertical tracks. Are you fixed it properly or not..
2. Check carriage assembly play.If it is over play(carriage bushes may be warn out) alignment won't complete, If bushes are available in your country replace them & do the calibration..If not go down how to alter bush. see the snap shot
3. While carriage movement pl check trailing cable flexibility.
Carriage Bush:
Note:This modification only professional not for users:
Un screw screws both sides as shown in fig, take out bushes estimate how much warn out happened.
Thing needed:
Fevi quik(glue),small peace of miler sheet, scissor & tweezers.
Cut miler sheet in to small peace & insert warn out place of bush(between bush & rail) & apply glue, fix it permanently,do it both sides & check for the carriage play.. once its finished try for alignment.. For this activity no need to remove carriage assembly from the rail. Main aim is alter bush warn out..

My C6280 was working fine then all at once it started to print very light. I have not got any error messages. I cleaned the printhead and it was pretty good on the first page I printed, the second page...

The machine does not monitor the pressure of the ink. If there is a problem due to blockage of ink nozzles or defective print-head or cartridge it will not be detected by the main control. When instead the problem is the ink delivery system that transports ink from supply station to carriage print head, the problem will usually get spotted by main controller board and you get a "ink delivery system failure" error.

If the ink is fading is generally either cartridges or print-head. If you have already tested the cartridges by replacing them with cartridges from a different lot (make sure they are not refilled but new ones), then the problem is usually the print-head.

Cleaning the print-head with the option available in HP software will rarely help to solve this kind problem. You can try removing the whole ink carriage and soaking the part in isopropyl alcohol for about two day. The assembly is held to the rail and gets released using a gray tab on top back and disconnecting the cable at the back. Removal of the upper cover is usually needed. Printhead is HP part number 5069-7161.

Here the print head for this printer.

Here you can purchase parts and service manual for your printer.

Check printhead path

Check for free carriage motion by unplugging the printer while the carriage is in the print area of the plotter. Open the top cover and move the carriage to check for free movement. If there are rubber crumbs under the belt, the belt is worn out and needs to be replaced. Manual can be downloaded from:

Canon MP830: Error Code 6A00

I think there is a piece of torn paper lodged inside due to carriage is stuck, try to do manually moving the carriage and also blow some compressed air around hoping to clear any foreign objects. Opened top manually. Moved print heads to left. About one inch from the right wall on the floor of printer are two soft spongy rectangular pads sitting in two abutting small trays. With the end of a ballpoint pen, pulled the right tray toward the front of the printer and the whole assembly snapped into place.
Thanks Good Luck

I have a Lexmark color printer, I can't find where the ink goes in?

if it's a flatbed scanner model, the whole scanner assembly on the top is larger than the printer portion below. if you lift up on the front corner of the larger scanner assembly, you will see the ink cartridge carriage tucked under the left or right far side when the printer is not printing. power the printer on, lift up the scanner assembly, and wait for the ink cartridge carriage to move itself out from being tucked off to the side. you will see a clip on the front top corner for each cartridge. gently pull forwards (the clip) with your thumb, and the cover will pop open to take out the old cartridge.

ps. remember to take of the piece of tape that covers the jet nozzels on the new cartridge before inserting cartridge into carriage.

Printhead Carriage assembly

Go to this link; select "carriage" under "search by keyword" the part number is: C8165-67061 listed at $61.85 and available. Pretty sure you are right about the spring and this should solve the problem. If you contact them, although it is not listed on the site, it may be possible to just get the broken part, but that would surprise me. Hope this helps :)
