The main problem with Panasonic DVD units is they are locked to a certain region. The vast majority CANNOT be hacked via the remote control unit and please be warned there some websites who offer strings of codes (with many many numbers) and they are not guaranteed to work - in fact - some can screw up your machine for good.
My advice: take it to a local service centre who will unlock your machine properly!

Go into the Panasonic setup , then go into video setup and see if the the player's video output is set to NTSC or PAL. NTSC for USA / Japan and PAL for Europe.
