I have problem with vaio vpcea3bfx, i cant connect to my wireless network @home, i dont know what to do?

You may sometimes need to connect to a wireless router locally to update its configuration. Accessing a wireless router's configuration screens requires you to know the router's IP address as well as the admin log in name and password. You should also be aware of a few common Wi-Fi connection problems and how to solve them.

Here's How:
  1. Verify the current local IP address of your router. Home broadband routers are manufactured to use a default address such as 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, or 192.168.2.1.

  2. Verify your computer is connected to the router either via an Ethernet cable or wireless association with the router. In either case, ensure your computer possesses a valid IP address.

  3. Open a Web browser window and request a connection to the router using its local IP address. For example, type http://192.168.1.1/ in the browser's address bar to request a connection to a router using the IP address 192.168.1.1.

  4. If the browser request is successful, you will be connected to the router and prompted for the administrative log in (user-name and password) information. Enter the administrative log in information to authenticate yourself to use the router's admin screens. Broadband routers contain default user names and passwords when first installed. Consult your router's documentation if you need to know the default login information.

  5. If the browser request returns an error message, your computer is likely not connected to the router. You may need to perform additional troubleshooting to establish a connection. Try the following procedures and repeat step 3 above as needed to resolve any connection problems:
      a. Reboot (power off and on) your router
      b. Temporarily disable your network firewall
      c. Reset your router to factory defaults (consult the manufacturer's documentation)
Tips:
  1. If this is the first time you are connecting to a wireless router for admin work, consider using a wired Ethernet link rather than a Wi-Fi link. Your Ethernet connection will keep working even if you haven't finished configuring or accidentally break the Wi-Fi settings.

How do i change the router network password? what is the ip adress??

The internal, LAN-IP address is normally set to a default, private number. Linksys routers, for example, use 192.168.1.1 for their internal IP address. D-Link and Netgear routers typically use 192.168.0.1. Some US Robotics routers use 192.168.123.254, and some SMC routers use 192.168.2.1. No matter the brand of router, its default internal IP address should be provided in documentation. Administrators often have the option to change this IP address during router setup. In any case, however, the private LAN-IP address remains fixed once set. It can be viewed from the router's administrative console.
The external, WAN-IP address of the router is set when the router connects to the Internet service provider. This address can also be viewed on the router's administrative console. Alternatively, the WAN-IP address can be found by visiting a Web-based IP address lookup service like http://checkip.dyndns.org/ from any computer on the home LAN.
Another way to identify the public IP addresses of routers, involves executing a ping or traceroute command. From inside a home network, the (DOS) command "ping -r 1" will send a message through the home router that will cause its IP address to be displayed. For example, "ping -r 1 www.yahoo.com" should result in a message like the following displayed on the command prompt:
To change router password Open your Internet browser, type the address of the router into the URL address bar, and open it. The address is typically in the form of 192.168.X.X. This is the local network address. Enter the account name and password to open the router setup utility. Navigate through the setup utility until you find the screen that will let you change the password. You will need to enter the old password to change it. Decide on a new password that has good security to a hacker. The best password is more than 8 characters and uses both lower case and upper case letters and numbers. Some will allow you to use special characters also. Do not make the password anything that can be found in a dictionary or any date of significance. Enter the old password in the change password page of the router. When prompted then enter the new password. You will be asked to enter it twice to confirm that the correct password is entered. Immediately, record the new password in some secure location that you can find if you forget it. Confirm the password change on the router page and log off the router. To check the information and that the router has been setup correctly with the new password, open the router address in the browser again and login with the new information. If you are able to login, you have successfully changed the password. Network: Router Ssl Vpn

Whats the security code? and how do i lock it from other people using my linksys.

You can set the password by logging into the router. You can do this via your web browser. You will need to type the router's IP address (the default address is 192.168.0.1) into the browser's address bar. You will then be prompted to enter the current (or default) username and password for the router. After you have successfully logged in, you should be able to navigate to the appropriate section and change the password to one of your own choosing.

I am getting this error while trying to log on to Yahoo mail There was a problem accessing your account. Please try again in a moment. Error #1 please help

1. Clear your cookies and temporary internet files (AKA cache), exit from the browser, then restart the browser.

2. If you are a home user and do not pay for a static IP address, get a different dynamic IP address; do
[Start] > [Run] > cmd > ipconfig
{{write down the IP address, then disconnect from the Internet with}}
ipconfig /release
{{wait a few minutes and then reconnect with}}
ipconfig / renew
{{compare the new IP address to the old to make sure your IP address changed, then try again}}

If you are an office user, try someone else's PC which will have a different IP address.

3. Log into Yahoo through a different country's server. I.e. if you usually log into Yahoo via http://login.yahoo.com/ or http://mail.yahoo.com/ then try http://login.korea.yahoo.com/ or http://nz.yahoo.com/

4. Access your Yahoo mailbox via http://wap.oa.yahoo.com/

5. Use a different browser. Use Firefox (free download from mozilla.com) if you normally use IE or Safari.

6. If you have a web accelerator (mostly an affliction of dial-up users) then try turning it off.

7. If you use a proxy server (mostly a corporate user thing) then try turning it off.

How do i set the password for my router

log in to the router from a web browser by typing its IP address into the browsers address bar (default IP address should be 192.168.1.1) this will prompt you for a username and password (default usernames may be admin, user, or no user name i.e. blank, default passwords may be admin or password) once logged in you can change the routers password from the 'security' tab.

When i sign on to the internet, i want to enter a security code to let me do so. how do i go about this?

Hi,
You need to log in to your router -- this is usually by typing its IP address into the address bar of your internet browser while the computer is connected to the router via an athernet cable. If successful a login box will appear demanding user name (usually, admin) and password (often, password). Once in the router's user interface turn off wireless security and log out. Then try to connect by wireless only. If successful, set a new wireless security passphrase.

Obviously, this advice and more should be contained in the manual for the router -- if that is no longer available I think you should probably ditch the router for a later design which is still supported.

Wish to log on to router

In order to log onto the router, you will need the router's password (not the wep/wpa passkey, but the other password). You will also need a computer that is connected to the router (does not matter if its wireless or not). First, you will need to know that router's IP Address. To find this, open a command prompt window on your computer, and type in the command "ipconfig", and hit enter. Your router's IP will be shown as the default gateway. Next, open up a web browser, and, in the address bar, type in the router's IP address. A login window will pop up, requesting a username, and password. Depending on the router, and whether or not it has its default settings, these are some of the possible combinations:
  • Username: admin, <blank>, administrator, comcast, or even password (these might not be all of them, they are just common ones)
  • Password: <blank>, 1234, admin, password, default
Once you successfully enter the username and password, you are logged into the router.

Can,t find link to enter code

By "code" I take it you mean the router password for the configuration page. In order to reach this page, you must type in your router's IP Address. To find the IP Address of the router, use a computer that is successfully connected to the router, go to run (windows key + r) and type in cmd. This opens up command prompt. From here, type in "ipconfig" (without the "). Once you do this, look for the default gateway address (might just be called default gateway). The default gateway is your router's IP Address. Take that address and copy it, then, paste it into a web browser's address bar. Once you do that, and go to it, you will be asked to log in. Log in (if you need help with logging in, please comment), and you will be in the router's configuration page.
Hope this helps.

Links up as a rooter but it will not connect to internet the modem is a talktalk smartAX mt882 adsl modem and the rooter is a linksys wrt54gs-uk im in the uk i can see and link up to the network

Howdy,

Try this: 1- Logon to the router @ 192.168.1.1. Default username = blank (none). Default password = "admin" (no quotes). Then: 2- On the main opening page, reset the IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1. Check (adjust) your timezone - etc. Then: 3- Click save at the bottom. At this point it will tell you settings successfully changed and it may try to return you to the page. But it won't be able to because you changed the IP address. Please close the browser and reopen and repeat logon as above using 192.168.2.1. If you can log in you have sucessfully changed the routers IP address. Certain modems will not function with the default IP address that comes with the router and must be changed. My setup is like this and I must do what is described above for my wrt54gs to function properly. Please use Internet Explorer browser if other browses do not work. Good luck.
