SOURCE: The heating element doesn't work in two of the slots.

If its a Dualit model then you should be able to get it repaired. Generally replacing parts on a Dualit is not easy but spares are usually available thanks to the fact that its one of the most well known commercial toasters on the market. Google and see if there's a repairer in your area.

SOURCE: Our 4-slice toaster (model 4cbc) is only toasting

Inside your toaster there are eight heating element plates six in the center and one in left end and one in right end.
Just switch on the toaster without any bread at maximum time and visualy inspect to see which side is becoming red and which not. Then you need to replace the element plates you see that they don't become red.
Remember that the two in center are the same called "CENTER" and the other two on ends are the same called "END"
They can easily be removed if you remove the bottom panel.
Good Luck

How do i fix an oven that bakes unevenly

the cooking I can't help with, but the oven I can.

sounds to me like the bottom element or what controls it is not working. the reason the ones on top are cooking is that the top element is coming on and browning them on top after the heat has made the dow rise and cook.
so essentially everything is cooking from the top down. so when the temp drops its using the top element to heat with and thus browns the top rack.

check ur elements to make sure both work, if so, move on to the thermostat which I have to be the culprit many times.

Toast is dark on one side and white on the other

The heating element on the white side probably is burned out.

Just got 4 slice de longh iconai toaster and husband made toast last night in right hand side. No problem last night but this morning this side will not toast as the lever which one pushes down to keep...

I have no experience with the deLonghi toaster but in my experience automatic toaster all work in similar ways since they went electronic - toasters were about the first to do that.

Pressing the lever down against the spring pressure also presses an internal switch that sends current to the heating element as well as to the electronics that control an electromagnet, the purpose of which is to keep the mechanism engaged until the toast is brown enough and then the current to the magnet will be cut by the browning brain and the toast pops up.

If removing any crumbs from inside by inverting it and giving it a good shake and then pressing the lever a few times fairly vigorously doesn't make it work then nothing short of surgery will make it work so returning it will be the only realistic option.

Toast cooks corrctly on one side and hardly at all on the oher. I have cleared all the crumbs out. It is the same whichever opening I use.

it means the other side has no heat to toast the bread!
The heating element might have been disconnected already, worst of all it is already burned!
try to contact the manufacturer to get the HEATiNG ELEMENT part or repair and replace the said part!
That'll solved ur probs!

The oven is heating up but not browning the food like it did. The upper heating element seems to be heating up, but not browning the food. How can I fix this?

Either replace the thermostat for the broiling element or try leaving the door part way open while you are trying to brown. This will allow the upper element to run hotter to get you to the browning stage that you are looking for.
