Question about Panasonic KX-TA824PK Phone

1 Answer

How do I get the caller ID information from the Panasonic KX-TA824 through the serial port connection, in real time? I connected a serial cable from the unit to my computer, and it shows the call log, including the caller ID of incoming calls, on the screen. I'm using Hyperterminal. However, it shows only after the call has ended. I want to get that Caller ID info as soon as the call comes in. I don't see any documentation anywhere for how to use the Serial port interface. What is possible? Are there codes available to program the unit from the remote desktop (connected via the serial port)? I'd love to know.

The correct answer is, "you don't". The TD and greater series (including the TAW) has a "AN" and "RA" feature that pre-displays CID as the call is ringing, the TA and lower does not.

Which other PBX would you recommend? What is the TAW? If I get that, will it have programming guide teling me how to access the caller ID?

    Thanks

Both the TAW-848 and the TD-816/1232 had SMDR bits that could be set to bring in the CID data, but there are differences in the functions of the system that may affect your decision to change out the box.

A TAW-848 begins life as a 4x4 box. It is not Manufacturer discontinued, yet, but the price is more than the companion TDA-50g. Both the 848 and the 50g require cards for extension caller-id, both systems need cards to add lines and extensions (4/8 lines, up to 20 extensions in 4x8x8 fasion). The key is that the SMDR will give you a line when the call rings and when it answers, both with CID info. The single port DISA that's free in an 824 is omitted in the 848, and there is no CO voice mail signalling option like in the 824.

The sleeper in this would be grabbing a TD-1232 from eBay. If you can get one with the CID board and revision 5 or higher software, you wiould have just about everything you need for less than $500.

All-in-all, it's something to consider if you're serious about the SMDR reporting and those options would let you keep your present phones.

Wrong! You can. Very Simple. When using the Mainteance console. All you have to do is check "Caller ID SMDR Printout" on the "9.Call ID Main Window. See section 9.9.1 of the KX-TA824 Programming Manual (link below if you need a manual). Or if using PT programming us command 907 (Section 2.2 of the Programming manual) Programming Manual: http://yes-tele.com/KX-TA824ProgrammingM...

    That's brilliant! Thank you, yestelecom

Wow. Apologies to the OP and thanks for pointing that feature out! Yes, 907 works on the TA series. I was so caught up in looking for AN and RA that I didn't see the command in front of my face!

How to get caller id for missed calls for Panasonic kx-t7730

Panasonic KX-TA624/824 automatic Caller ID logging How to set up automatic Caller ID logging
in the KX-TA624 phone system with KX-T7735 phones. (for dash four and five, and KX-TA824)

System Programming:
  1. In System Program number 900, enable Caller ID for the lines you have Caller ID on. (To get into system programming, press Program * # 1234.)
  2. In System Program number 901, select your own area code and any other area codes that don't have to be dialed when making a call. The area code digits are removed from Caller ID log information so you can return a call without dialing unnecessary digits which would mess up the call.
  3. In System Program number 902, if necessary, indicate the number of digits to be removed, and a particular digit (usually 1) that might have to be added, when returning a local phone call. The default programming is to remove the first three digits, and add nothing; which is correct for most locations.
  4. In System Program 903, if necessary, indicate the number of digits to be removed, and up to 4 digits that might have to be added, when returning a long distance phone call. The default programming is to not remove any digits, and add a 1; which is correct for most locations.
  5. In System Program number 909, enable Call Log Assignment for each phone where you want to log Caller ID information. You can use * to indicate you want logging at all phones.
  6. Get out of system programming. (Press Hold or End, then Program.)
Phone Programming:
  1. Program a button for Caller ID Indication on each phone where you want to log Caller ID information. Press Program, then the button you want to use for Caller ID Indication (we recommend the top button in the left column), then 96, then Store, then Hold, then Program. (If you want a phone to record Caller ID information individually, rather than for the whole system, use 6 instead of 96.)
  2. At each phone where you want to log all calls, press intercom, then 7382#.
User Tips:
  • The Caller ID Indication button will light up only when the system has logged UN-answered calls.
  • Use the Navigator Key at the lower right corner of the phone to scroll through Caller ID information.
  • You can erase the entire Caller ID log by pressing Intercom, then 70**#
  • You can erase an individual Caller ID record by pressing Transfer while the information is displayed.
  • If your phone does not have a Navigator Key, you can program an available button for Caller ID Selection. Press Program, then the button you want to use for Caller ID Selection, then 97, then Store, then Hold, then Program. (If you want a phone to record Caller ID information individually, rather than for the whole system, use 7 instead of 97.)
  • To call a number displayed on the Caller ID log, pick up the handset or press the speakerphone button, and press the Caller ID Indication button.

The caller id is working but how to look back the last caller id number(or caller id log) on the KX-T7731, i am using it with the KX-TA824 system.

System pool is 300 numbers, personal is 20. There are logging and overwrite options in Maintenance programming 9.3 or system program 737 and 738. Then you program buttons for CID-Select and CID-Indication for either personal, system or both. (2 buttons per feature).

I have a panasonic kx ta824 system with caller id. Caller id works fine on lines 2 & 3, but no longer works on line 1. This is a new problem after 3 years of it working properly. I checked the...

Hard to say. So, go to the cabinet and swap the connections between line 1 and line 2. If the CID still comes in on line 2 and not 1, then it's hardware or programming. If it doesn't come in on 2, then it's a telco issue. Since you checked programming, it would only leave hardware. The 82493 card plugs into a slot on the main board.

Hello friends from FIXYA, I have a situation where I cannot get my Panasonic KX-TA824 pbx to answer incoming call at the fist ring using DISA. I have tried everything and I cannot get it to work. DISA...

And??? What's the problem? My DISA is set for 1s on the first page and it never rings a phone. If you want it to answer the outside line on the first ring, you'll have to turn OFF Caller-ID. Now it will answer right after the first ring, but you lose CID logging.

On my working system, the DISA 6.1 section is with AA and 1 second, and 6.2 the first two timers are 3 and 5 seconds. In 9.1 you can uncheck CID but I don't recommend it.

KX TG1061 panasonic phone called id not working in India

Hi,
Try connecting your phone to some other phone lines in which the caller id is working properly and this way you can check if the problem is with your device or line.

For all the phones to display the caller information properly, CLID (caller line identification service) should be enabled for your landline connection. Please contact your phone line provider to enable this service and you should be able to see the caller id information in your panasonic device.

I hope this is helpful to you
thanks

Connecting laptop to phone KX-TA824 not reading COM 1 to connect

Save yourself the trouble and use the USB port :-)

TA's are tricky, I just order a cable for Panasonic from my supplier so I don't pay attention to the pinouts. The cable is a standard DB-9 Female to Female and it fits into my USB to serial adapter from Iogear.

You might just try a USB cable and make sure the serial port parameters are set properly. Change them, or make sure they are 9600,N,8,1 They are programmed in 1.7 of the maintenance console or via the programming phone in system option 800.

If all of that appears proper, it's probably time to look in the device manager of your laptop and make sure your serial port appears. Then, run Hypertrm to see if you can get SMDR. Once Hypertrm works, the Pana software should work.
