The mouse works, but the keyboard doesn't. I cannot type anything.

Simple way to confirm if it is actually a laptop keyboard failure. Plug in a USB desktop keyboard and let the drivers load. If the USB keyboard works then you have confirmed the laptop keyboard failure. Either that you can go to "start"- "all programs"-"accessories"-"ease of access" then choose "on screen keyboard". You are using Win7 I presume?

Keyboard failure

This may be an issue with your usb drivers. Update those first, then if that fails, I would try one of those adapters that goes from USB to the old school mouse and keyboard connections and plug that in to see if it works.

Some of the keys of the keyboard are not working. I am using Samsung R517.

Possible failure of the respective switches or a failure of the tracks on the keypad circuits.
Test using another keyboard and confirm. If so the beyboard can be removed and the switches and tracks removed to be cleaned and reset. If not replace the keyboard than to waste any money on it.

Jarmy computer says keyboard failure

Hi there,

This means that your computer does not detect a keyboard plugged in it. Make sure the keyboard is properly plugged in. You may want to restart the computer and re-plug the keyboard. If this error still shows, try to plug the keyboard to another computer. If it works, then you have a defective keyboard port on your computer's board. You can just buy a usb keyboard just to be able to use your computer with keyboard again.

However, if when plugged into another computer and the keyboard failure still was detected, then you might have a defective keyboard that needs replacement.

Please let me know how this helps you. Thank you for using FixYa.

Keyboard failure

If it is a wireless one, you probably need a new battery in it. If it is wired one, then BORROW one from another machine to try before buying another. Many of the keyboards are available at thrift shops. Get one with matching connector.

Keyboard Failure Press F1 or F2 but keyboard not working

If you get 'Keyboard Failure' message it can have two reasons.
1) The keyboard is not working properly. You will have to replace it.
2) If your keyboard has a PS/2 jack, the PS/2 keyboard port of your computer is not working. Buy an USB keyboard.
You can take your computer to the store and check which type of new keyboard (PS/2 or USB) works with your computer, before paying for it.
