Question about Husqvarna Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I have a husqvarna class 12 (CB-N) model H 1240745 aprox purchased 1958, It is complete with case, tools etc. The motor runs but needle doesn't go up & down? Could be the belt? Does it have any value beyond scrap metal? Thanks, Louise

Price removed casing round bobbin and inner case to clean fluff , now I carnt seem to line up properly although all slots back the needle won't go down properly .....husqvarna Viking E10 ..man

Remove bobbin case completely and check that the needle will go down properly. If so, put the bobbin case back in lining up the black arrow on the bobbin case (on left hand side) with the metal arm that comes out slightly on the left side. Sometimes, it is tight getting the case back in place properly. Once in place, check that the case will rock back and forth slightly.
Hope this helps.

Husqvarna 3610 doesn't pick up lower thread

Hi, Check to see if needle is bent. If the needle is bent it will not work well and soon it will break.
Replace the needle. Also lube the moving parts on your machine. (fine oil) sold in most sewing centers.

I need new needles and bobbins how do I find right ones

You can use Schmetz needles and the bobbins are Class A or Class 15. Both can be found where sewing notions are sold.

You choose the needle size according to the type of fabric you are sewing. This should be in the manual.

If you need a manual, you can download from the Brother website.

The bobbin thread is bird nesting on my viking emerald 183. i've only had one sewing class so far. how do I insert the bobbin correctly?

Make sure the bobbin is extended out of the bobbin case via the tension spring mechanism in the bobbin case. This provides tension for the bobbin unit. Check to make sure the upper thread has not "jumped out" of the take-up lever so that when the needle first touches the fabric the thread is still taunt and when the needle enters the fabric a small loop is formed right above the fabric and the eye of the needle. If these tips do not help suggest that you take it to an authorized husqvarna viking dealer for service. You can locate a dealer near you by visiting the husqvarna viking website and clicking on the Dealer link on the left-hand side of the page - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com

My 5 year old Huskystar 216 sewing machine is

Sounds like the hook/needle timing. To check do the following:

With the power off!!
remove bobbin and bobbin case.
push needle all the way to the left.
Turn handwheel toward you watching the needle and bobbin housing hook. The point of the hook should line up right above the eye of the needle.

If not timing, clean bobbin area removing lint and thread.
Check bobbin tension, should get slight resistance when pulling thread.
Make sure using only Husqvarna Viking bobbins -- most are green but they have new colors now. All will have the Husqvarna logo on them (an H). Make sure the bobbin is unwinding in the right direction.

Remove fabric. Pull extra long bobbin thread (about 3 inches). Hold upper thread tail in left hand, turn handwheel toward you for 1 revolution. Is the bobbin thread caught by the top thread and pulled through the opening of the needle plate?

If you are still unable to get a good stitch, take to an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for service or have them send to Husqvarna Viking (SVP) Technical Service Dept for repair. A list of dealers close to you can be found at the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us

Good luck.

Bobbin holder won't stay put

If the bobbin case/holder is trying to lift up and the thread is staying partly around it, your bobbin case may have turned part way.
Remove the needle plate and the bobbin case. The outer edges of the bobbin case should be very smooth. I suspect you may see a needle hole in the flat area that was under the foot. If so, you will probably wish to take it to your dealer and show them. They may smooth it or recommend replacing it. When the bobbin case is placed back into the hook cup that it sets in, the retainer at the 11 o'clock position on it should only allow the case to lift up about 0.8 to 1mm at the most. If it will lift up more than this, press down firmly on the retainer and move it closer to the bobbin case. You must have enough room for the thread to pass between the retainer and the bobbin case, but too much clearance will allow the bobbin case to turn in the machine and it will be damaged by the needle.

I accidentally started sewing with wrong foot and needle hit the plate and broke. Machine won't sew

This is just a guess since I haven't seen exactly what's happening, but my guess is that the drive belt has come off. You can hear the motor running because the machine is attempting to bring the needle to it's fully up position. Since the machine isn't turning, the motor will run faster and faster until it hits full speed.
