Are you using this heater for a residential application? 208V is typically only seen in a commercial/residential setting. It would be unusual for a home to be wired in what they call 3 phase which is how a 208 voltage is obtained.

Hope this helps. I would strongly advise that you consult with an electrician as 3 phase voltage is not for the average DIY'r.

Sorry. I meant 208 voltage is typically seen in commercial/INDUSTRIAL settings and not in residential.

Use a 30 amp 2 pole breaker..

Unit comes on and runs for 5 minutes, the circuit trips off

30 is the correct size breaker for this unit. It sounds like there is a grounding issue going on in the system. Or off of the Thermostat. Something is grounding out causing the switch to trip. Are you running #10 wire to breaker and the unit? If not you will need to increase your wire size

Just installed new steam shower, it produces steam for about 5 minutes and then blows the fuse

Based from your comments, a new steam shower that blows the fuse in five minutes. You could have installed a new steam shower that is much bigger than what you previously have.
1. For a 5000 watts steam shower at 220 volts
power must have a fuse rating of 40 amps, supply
wires of at least No. 6 AWG Type THW ; and at
110 volts a fuse rating of 80Amps, supply wires
of at least No. 2 AWG type THW.
2. For a 4000 watts at 220 volts, Fuse: 30 amps,
Supply wire: No. 10 AWG type THW. At 110volts
60 amps, Supply wires : No. 4 AWG Type THW
3. For a 3000 watts at 220 volts, Fuse: 20 amps
Supply wire: No. 10 AWG type THW; At 110volts
Fuse: 40 amps, Supply wire: No. 6 AWG THW
4. For a 2000 watts at 220 volts, Fuse: 15 amps
Supply wire: No. 10 AWG THW and at 110 volts

Problem wiring 240amp baseboard heaters

12 gauge wire sounds under sized for the application. And 20 amp 240 v breakers might be sufficient if you where wiring the heaters separately. But be sure that your wiring is not romex - because romex is an insulator and is not permitted in conduit. I would suggest that you up size your wire to 10 guage and your breaker to 30 amp as well. Then double check your heater wiring connections to insure that they're wired the same throughout.

Dayton 3ph 208V heater # 2yu72 not firing off - WHY?

I assume you mean its not Heating by not firing? If its 3 phase you may have lost 2/3's of your heat not just 1/3. Look at the safety's and find if 1 or more are open. Also there is a fuse able link on most elements and if you have had the heater try to run without a blower lately (or anytime in the past) the link may be out. These are usually installed where they "see" the heaters. If you have power to all the elements look for this or a bad element(s).

If your contactor is still not pulling in check for open safety's or bad timer.
