The noise could be coming from the blower housing, as this unit does not have bearings, it does have 4 rollers however. If the unit is working on timed dry and not sensors there may be a problem with them. Check your venting though, if it is too short it may not have enough back pressure for the sensors to operate properly. This could also cause your thermosats to blow, the one is a manual reset, either way you are going to have to get a gas tech out there.

If your dryer has electronic sensors like this:
themobilian_2661.jpg
They might have a coating builtup on them preventing them from feeling the wet clothes. As the wet clothes tumble in the dryer they rub up against these sensor strips. As long a wetness is there the capacitor is dicharged on the controls upstairs and it continues to dry them wet clothes. If junk gets on them sensors no wetness will e felt by them sensors. It is a simple as that. The dryer thinks the clothes is dry because no dampness is being detected so is shuts down thinking all is propah. Get some windex and scrub them sensors good so dampness can be sensed by the two sensors once more and party on!

My Maytag Performa dryer is making a horrible sound...still working though. Wondering if it is a belt?? Can I fix myself?

go to Sears and purchase the belt with an idler pulley with it. It comes as a kit. The pulleys bearing has dried out bearing that went flat in spots which causes this horrible noise
the top and the front of your dryer needs to come off to access these parts

Clean the sensors ... they are likely coated with something. Alternatively, the sensors could have become disconnected during the move. Remove the back and check this out. Use a 5/16 nut driver - not a screw driver - youwill save yourself a bunckof grief.

Dryer making horrible squeeling noise

this is normally a problem with rollers that have gotten dry bearings , take the drum out check the rollers if they turn hard or act sticky you may clean them up and and oil with turbine oil , do not use wd-40 or 3in 1 as these will dry the bearing, check the idler pulley while you have this apart also oiling it if need be

Dryer shuts off prematurely

The E1 code is a replace control panel code and a good way to check a sensor is to open the door with a empty machine and at the top of the opening there is a switch. Press it and start the dryer, watch the indicator for the sensor then get a wet finger and hold it across the two silver bars in the dryer, if it senses then maybe it is a mixed load or how is the machine leveled? I will lower the machine toward the sensor for better contact because after 3-5 passes the machine will assume the clothes are dry. If the sensor doesnt read then there is a question with the two mov varistors attached to a pig tail before the sensor. Here is a link to see what they look like.

LP gas conversion on an LG dryer

Mr. D, make sure you have a little time, you have to remove a few things. 1. Remove the 3 screws in back which hold the top on. Slide the top back and lift off. 2. Remove the two screws on each end of the control panel frame. (inside). Disconnect the control panel harness, pull up and foward, place aside. Remove the 4 screws on the top of the front cover, disconnect the harness for the door switch and it should pull foward. Now I believe you can get at the gas valve on the lower right. Make sure to reverse the limiter as well as putting on the new orfice. If you need any further help, e mail me at catriver1@gmail.com Will be home this evening. Catriver.
