The Canon G9 has a problem where two screws in the top of the camera work themselves loose over time, then fall out and short out the fuse on what's called the DC/DC board.

The screws laying on the DC/DC board can cause your batteries to be run down very quickly, and eventually will short out the camera when it doesn't happen right away like with your camera.

This board may need to be replaced, both screws need to be found within the camera (if both fell out), and they need to be put back in place and held in with 'Locktite' so they don't fall out again.

If you do a Google search for "g9 no power repair" you will see in the #3 position Darntoothysam com, where you can have this repair performed for $85 total! This includes the part, installation, and return shipping of the camera.

If you want to do the repair yourself (no instructions included, sorry) you may purchase the part you need for $48 including shipping.

Hope this helps!

Try charging it for an hour even if it is indicating that it is already full in 10 minutes. If the battery still gets drained after a few shots, then you should change your charger.

The fully charged sony batteries run out and the camera shuts off on DSC-S700 Sony digital Camera.

It is possible that the batteries have reduced its capacity to recharge to the full value. Fully discharge and charge and try. If your camera is working fine otherwise , it will be good to buy new batteries. Since the charging procedures for retaining good life for rechargable battery is to do the intial charging for abotu 12-18 hours and let it drain fully before repeating the process at least three times. Try and do it at least once a fortnight so that the battery does not get cells to develop back EMF. Hope you try this out.

I have a low battery indication with a fully charged battery on a Sony DSC-F717. What do I do?

First, even a fully charged battery may not be working right - VERY common.
Does the camera do this on two batteries, one old and one much newer? (I say this because lithium batteries are good for about 500 charges - if you are over this, the batteries will always read weak...)
A service shop can test the camera and see if the battery is reading correctly. A service shop may allow you to try the SHOP's good battery in your camera and see if it reads right. If OK, you need a new battery.

The service shop can reload the operating data into your camera - I have fixed them this way myself.
If not, the circuit board that handles charging and batteries may run you $275 plus labour. (The board is not repairable)

Quick battery drain

No sorry to say this is normal for this camera! you may want to look for rechargable lithium batterys (they will last longer in a high drain device such as your camera!

I have Canon power shot S2 IS digital camera.I bought it around 2 years back. Now my camera is showing the sign of "change the batteries" even though the batteries are fully charged and the lens does not...

i suggest replacing a fresh battery will most likely solve your prob, overtime rechargeable battery can drain easily, try changing with a new battery and see if it does work well, there might be insufficient current, thats why it tends to drop of voltage easily upon using,
there is a specified lifetime for rechargeable battery, depends on your usage and charging method, theymaybe fully charged but sometimes wont give you enough power to drive

Sony dsc-s600

1= Use rechargeable battery cells and must be fully charged.
2= Check battery terminals in camera battery compartment. Must be cleaned and shiny.
3= Sony camera DCS-S600 won't charge batteries through USB cable plugged in PC. You need external battery charger to charge battery cells.
