Question about Samsung HL-S4266W 42" HDTV

1 Answer

We were given this tv last year and has worked great. We recently moved and when the movers placed the tv back in the wall unit, it would come on for about 10 seconds, the screen would go black, but you could still hear what was on the tv and then it would shut down with the lights blinking on the front. We reviewed websites for troubleshooting and it seemed to suggest a possible ballast. We check the lamp, which is on and the blower works. Does this sound like a possible solution to persue?

Yes that sounds like a ballast issue for sure. I would recommend you have a local professional do it, it can be very delicate work. If you were to bump something in the process it could make it a much more expensive repair. But definitely you are correct, that seems to be a ballast issue.

If you really want to do it yourself let me know and I can try to track down the parts. If the problem happened right after moving you can actually have the moving company pay for the repairs, as technically they damaged the TV from handling it...

Thanks
Tim

You are supposed to leave refrigerator quite for at least one day after moving. Did you?
Also, somtimes incorrect manipulation of refrigerator while moving can have serious consequences. Did you check movers? THEY don't really care much

How do I fix my TV that will give an image after powering on, and then make it go so dark you can't see it?

This is what happens when the backlighting circuit fails. It can either be the lamp or the inverter board. This is one reason the newer TVs/Monitors are using LED backlighting. They last longer. Typical LCD backlighting can fail in as little as three years if they are left on full time.

To transport a loewe spheros 42 plasma unit with rotating stand does the tv unit detach from the stand? I understand that the plasma tv should be transported in an upright position only is this true?

Yes, it should be transported in upright position.
When we moved, our moving company arranged a crating company to crate our Spheros unit. They built a crate around the TV and secured it in an upright position along with the rotating stand. They then put a tilt sensor (you get the serial number of the tilt sensor) to make sure that the moving people don't tilt the crate. They also un-crate it at your destination. The only problem is that the TV is already quite heavy to begin with (~180 lbs), and with the crate, it becomes almost impossible for the movers move it in perfect upright position....though our movers really tried hard.

Big screen tv turns on and off on its own!

Your TV is being overheated by the location it is placed. try moving it in an airy area and see if the problem still occurs. The turning on and off is a response to overheating sensors in the TV housing and if not rectified it could malfunction and may cause burnout, a possible risk of fire.

Fridge quit cooling after i moved it

did you tilt it when you moved it and then when u got it in place plug it in? if so youve got compressor problems, anytime you tilt a fridge you have to let it set for several hours to allow the oil to get back to the compressor or you ruin the compressor

1994 52in. RCA projection TV

Sounds like a solder issue either in the horizontal / Vertical deflection circuits due to the fall. I would check out the solder joints especially around the heat sinks. Hope this helps. If you provide the Chassis number for the RCA I can be better equipped to give you component locations to inspect.
