You don't need to do anything special, when you load Windows 7 you'll get to a point where you'll see this screen.

Just delete all disks and Win 7 will format everything correctly for you.

Hope this info helps!

Windows not genuine on new hard drive with win 7 preinstalled

Try installing the OS that shipped with the computer. If it is an HP OEM version that you are installing on the HP computer for which it was designed then you should not have any problem. Otherwise, you need to buy a license from Microsoft, or the recovery disks for your computer from HP.

Can't factory restore with dual boot system.

I run Windows 7 and also sometimes Fedora 16, Backtrack 5 and Ubuntu. Problem with reinstalling windows is it will write over the GRUB loader and you wont have linux there anymore. You are meant to have Windows first then install linux afterwards so you have the option of both.

Backup any files that you need and reinstall Windows then reinstall Linux. Its too much effort and mucking around to do it the other way even though it can be done

We want to change the language to English

Only Windows 7 Ultimate, Mac OSX and Linux operating systems (OS) can change the language of the menus and icons.

Most probably you have Windows 7 Home Edition
If you just got this PC you can reinstall a new operating system in English that you buy. Installing this will completely erase and replace the present system, files and programs.

Another way is to do a dual boot - a computer loaded with two separate operating systems on two partitions (C: and D: which you create) on the same hard disc. This will give you the choice of using the original OS or another one in English for example Windows XP or a free Linux Ubuntu OS. Google Dual Boot for instructions for your model of Notebook. This will involve some study and experimentation and you may lose the OS you have now, so back up your data. Here is an example of dual boot instructions:

I will ask if i can download windows 7 on linux acer aspire 4738?there will be a problem?

there won't be any problem as far as Windows and Linux, but this is a fairly involved procedure. You'll first need to create a Windows partition on your hard disk in NTFS file system format. Otherwise,Windows might overwrite / erase your linux installation when Windows 7 installs.
make the windows partition the "Primary" or "Boot" partition.
When Windows 7 installs, it may ask if you want to delete the linux partition.Answer "NO" to this.
The next concern is which operating system will boot by default,Windows or Linux.
I had no problem doing this with Windows Vista, and whe Vista booted,it listed a choice of operating systems to boot, and I would select either Windows Vista or Ubuntu Linux.

My Acer Webcam Is Gone Ever Since I Installed Windows 7!?

As with all laptops parts are sourced from different manufacturers. Laptops had to be certified for WIN 7. Some ACERs laptop models are, but if the model wasnt certified for the WIN 7 platform they would not have developed a driver for your model. After checking ACER did NOT certify this unit as Windows 7 Compatibile due to driver incompatibilities. You can either downgrade to Windows Vista.. which will require a full reformat of drive (WIN 7 doesnt just uninstall) and reinstall from fresh VISTA.. so be sure and save your data. Or you can determine who makes the webcam in teh notebook and see if the manufacturer has a direct driver..OR FINALLY.. you could load the Vista driver and then go into the webcam software you use and right click and say run in "Windows vista" or "Windows XP" compatible mode. Be sure and keep looking at ACER to see if they state your system can go to Win 7 at a later date as sometime manufacturers will make drivers available which could change its status.

Acer Aspire 5100 will not boot from ****

The best way to handle this is to completely reformat the drive again, to rid win 7 and the bad XP, and to then re-install XP from the DVD all anew. Any other way is just going to cause hassles trust me.

Cannot find OS, wont let me reinstall OS, possible missing drive?

Why not try to install and use Linux Ubuntu, great and always free support, fantastic community forum board, free OS and free updates. Works great for me live (from CD) and installed. Give it a try before you refuse.

If I am not misteken there is an option during Win 7 installation process like Advanced, down the window, there you can delete, add, format partitions
