Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have a Home theatre DVD SC-PT460. Turned on this morning and the red stand by light is on but i cannot get it to come on?

the power supply in your DVD player may not have the proper voltage to the electronic switch and therefore the processor is in standby to protect the device.
Or you may have a remote that has left the unit in standby mode. check the user manual to see if this is the fact.
Checking manufacturers site in knowledge base usually has the solution for a "stand by mode" issue.
Or call and talk to a technical support rep.

How do I change the regional coding on my Panasonic SC-PT460, I cant play half my library of movies. -Janus-

After getting clarification from Fixya I can pass the links below to you to check yourself

Some players are harder than others to do this but you may want to
try here or here
Comments:
Toshiba's and JVC's are the harder ones to do

I use a Phillips myself as it is not only cheaper but has much more going for it than many of the higher end units. i throw anything at it and it just plays

The older the unit that harder it is to do the region free thing with.
I let my EX have the panasonic (big grin)

If you cant find a fix then look at the codes available for cheaper brands and how easy it is to do it before you purchase one.

Just a thought.

Panasonic SC-PT460 - Little black box covers half of screen

Can you describe the 'box'? Is it the top half, bottom half, a little of either? What kind of TV do you have?

I suspect you might be noticing the aspect ratio of the various source programs being presented differently on a wide screen than you are used to. DVD programs come in a variety of aspect ratios. Normal TV is 4x3, that is, 4 units wide versus 3 units tall. Wide screens are more like 16x9, so a 4x3 image presented properly on a wide sceen would have black vertical bars on both sides. That is normal.

Some people are offended by the black bars and TV's are unfortunately designed to allow gross modification of the image to fill the space. That is akin to taking a photo of yourself and stretching it to fit an improper frame. That probably wouldn't be very flattering to you and certainly wouldn't be accurate. Which is more important - the picture or the frame?

No sound through the Panasonic cinema surround sound on TV

Had a similar problem mate. I solved it by connecting the tv to the PT460 system with a scart lead. You then have to have the AV channel selected on the PT460 system to listen to the tv. You will always have to have the AV channel on the PT460 selected to listen to any sound transmitted through the tv - be it playstation/xbox or any other device that you may connect in the future with HDMI leads or otherwise. Hope this helps

DVD playing

You may have to buy a new player! because its not compatable ( you need one that plays DVD+ DVD- and dvd RW!) and the players that play these formats are no more then a regular dvd player (seen them for as low as $30.00 at wall mart!
