Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I have 2 loose blue wires that come out of the factory wire loom in my Maytag Neptune MDE5500AYW that came off the wiring block when my kids were switching from a 3 wire to a 4 wire cord. Now I am not sure which blue wire goes on which stud and whether they go on the red, black or green post.

Thank you very much. I had one stud with 2 black wires coming to it and the other end had a stud with nothing coming to it so I took a chance and put the blue wires on the empty stud and it seems to be working. i appreciate the diagram as well.

Maytag dyer problems

it sounds like the control board is going bad but i wouldn't buy any parts for this dryer, soon you won't be able to get parts for it,put the money into a new dryer not to mention that the neptune products is what took maytag out and now whirlpool owns maytag.you could also have a problem with one of the connections or a bad wire in one of the connections and when you move the wires it's working again and this could be from the heat, after years the wires get brittle, you could buy the new board, put it in and if it's a wire you're back to square one,but from what you say it's either a wire in one of the connections or the board.good luck with your dryer.

Maytag Neptune door won't lock, or start the was cycle.

check all wiring for tightness and any corrosion from door latch up to the central control unit first,if ok then replace door latch component as this part wears out quickly you will need to remove washer top, then door boot spring to release door boot from door frame to access wiring to door lock component

Hello,

It seems to get confusing where the wires go in the back where the cord connects to on your brand new,or previously dryer that you have brought to a home thats new to you

4 wires goes as such with oldtech2332.jpgthe red wire going on the right side, the black wire going on the left, the white wire goes on the center terminal. Now what exactly do you do with the green wires is what your asking yourself. It goes onto the cabinet after removing that little link that went from the center terminal that was beweeen the cabinet and and the white wire terminal.Yes remove that link and install the green wire where that link was just attached to a minute ago.

yes, hook up the black with the black the white with the white and the red where the blue was,now the green is just a ground wire, all you have to do is connect it anywhere to the metal frame of the machine just to ground it,look around there should be a screw somewhere near the other wire connections if not remove any screw and connect it and it will be fine.

if the wire is burned at the plug then cut it and redo, loose connections cause wiring to burn so make sure connections are as tight as can be to avoid this.........
