OK, try booting with only 1 stick of memory, take them both out, and boot with only 1 stick, if the first one doesn't work, try the next slot, if that doesn't work try the 2nd memory stick, same thing: 1st slot boot, 2nd slot boot.

Let me know what happens, keep the hard drive and the battery out too while you try it. We're just trying to get into the bios setup screen at this point.

check the bottom of the laptop for the correct panel. Usually it's the one in the dead center. Sometimes it will have a memory icon on it (looks kind of like a short comb)

Dell Inspiron 1545 Booting Problem [Black Screen].

Insert the original Windows CD-ROM into the DVD-drive, and see if the computer will "boot" from that disk. If so, then it could be your 'C:' drive which is having the problem, and thus not "booting" your computer from it.

My dell vostro 1710 laptop computer screen is black.

First, try reseating the memory modules in the laptop.

If still nothing, try removing the hard drive, CD/DVD Drive, and memory one at a time (in that order) see if anything makes it boot.

Replace the parts and try booting again.

The error flashing means a processor failure. If you are knowledgeable you can try re-seating the processor.

However, if your unit is in warranty I would call Dell and have them replace the main board and the memory modules as a set. Warning: They will make you go thru these same tests even if you already have.

Dell latitude d810 laptop won't full boot on just battery power a

Connect the AC Adaptor to the Computer and turn it ON. Then, open the Run dialog box and type "msconfig" to open Microsoft System Configuration window. On the System Configuration window, click on the Startup tab then check if the checkbox beside the "LoadPowerProfile" program is marked. If yes, then shutdown the Computer. Then, remove the Battery pack and clean the Battery compartment and the metal contacts using a pencil eraser. Furthermore, you may try resetting the BIOS to its default values after reinserting the Battery.
Restart the Computer and keep on pressing the F2 key until the "Entering Setup" text appears on the screen. Then, press the "Alt+F" key to restore the BIOS to the default configuration. Then, press ESC and Enter to Exit and save the changes.

Mystery icon on Dell Keyboard Model SK 8115

The icon should mean the NUM LOCK is on. All that does is activate the numberpad on the right side of the keyboard. Chances are the monitor's backlight is bad. Try another monitor. You can also get a flashlight, turn it on and hold it very close to the face of the screen. Look closely at the screen, can you see your desktop or login screen? If so the backlight is not working with in the monitor.
