If it's the "default" key then it's the 10 digits on the 2wire router itself, check out the router usually it's on the bottom written like [1234567890]

Let me know if that works.

I believe that you have setup WEP/WPA encryption key to network, please contact your service provider to know the security key.

Where is the security code to connect to the wireless gateway 2wire?

Usually you can find the security key for the wireless on a 2wire modem/router underneath it there's should be a 10 digit key in there as the wireless security key, if you cannot find it there you need to access the router setup page and it will be better if you can contact 2wire support to walk you through in getting that key from the router page..

Switch from WEP to WPA wireless protocol

First have a computer directly plugged into the 2wire

Using windows xp: click on start> then run> then type "cmd" and hit enter.
Type "ipconfig" and hit enter.
You are looking for a default gateway address, usually "" on 2wire gateways.

Skip the vista section if you are using xp
Using Windows Vista: click start> then click on the search bar and type "cmd" and hit enter.
Type "ipconfig" and hit enter.
You are looking for a default gateway address, usually "" on 2wire gateways.

Once you find the gateway address, you now have the website address you need to get to your 2wire. Open internet explorer and type that default gateway address in the address bar.

This should take you to a 2wire homepage. At the top click on the "home network" or "local network" tab at the top.
Once there, click on the wireless network link at the top. It will prompt for a password, if you do not know the password, click I forgot for a hint. Click I still cannot remember if the hint doesn't help, it will ask for a system key, which is a 10-digit number on the bottom of the 2wire.

After entering the password you will be in the wireless settings window where you can change the security type to any available that the 2wire has, if it doesn't have it available call the provider and see if they have a firmware upgrade available.

the 2wire will most likely have wifi security setup so you cant connect to the net with your pc til you configure the wifi key into the pc. The key will most likely be on a sticker on the underneath of the router.
