How do i erase my forgotten password as i want to sell my laptop

There are two things to do. One is assuring you don't have any system restore filesets on the computer from dates after the original ones. Since system restore is different on each PC, that is something you will have to find.

The second thing is erasing all personal files. You can do that if you have a system restore back to factory settings that erases everything, but then for total assurance of non-recovery, you can add a disk defragger that then wipes the free space making everything previously erased non-recoverable blank space.

Restore factory setting on a sell latitude xpi

If you're concerned about security of your data. Remove the drive from the machine and attach it to an adapter and run a drive wiper software. CCleaner is free. Then reinstall the drive in the machine and use the disks that came with the machine to reinstall the software.

If data isn't sensitive, just use the disks and follow the instructions to reinstall the software. Once that is done find the windows.old file and delete it.

Selling my Toshiba laptop and I want to restore it to default/factory settings. When this was bought did not come with a disc.

When your Toshiba Satellite laptop goes on the fritz, there are several instances where the best solution is to delete everything and start over. If your system frequently crashes or you can't remove a specific virus, you may want to restore the laptop back to original factory settings. While the easiest way to restore the system is to use the operating system restore disc, it is possible to restore the system without it. Each Satellite laptop also includes a hard drive recovery utility that lets you restore the operating system without the restore disc.

1. Take account of any files or programs you still want to use after the Toshiba laptop is restored back to its factory settings. Transfer the files to a backup location, such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive.

2. Restart the Toshiba Satellite laptop's operating system. Wait for the Toshiba logo to appear on the screen.

3. Press the key that brings up the hard drive disk utility menu. Depending on the specific model of your Toshiba Satellite laptop, the key will either be "0," "F1," or "F8."

4. Press "1" or click "Restore Original Factory Image." Click "Yes." Select "Next" to begin the restoration process.

5. Restart the Toshiba laptop computer when the restoration process finishes running. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to set up the laptop's date, time and language settings.

6. Transfer the backup copies of the data you saved earlier back to the Toshiba's hard drive. Re-install any programs you need, such as your software firewall or anti-virus tool.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya

No disc.how to reset to factory setting

No problem - there are a couple options.
1. Install a new copy of Windows. You can buy this from any computer store, even Target will have this. Once you put the disc in it will walk you through reinstalling Windows which will erase everything and bring it back to a "new" state.
2. Contact Dell to see if they can send/sell you the recovery disc that will restore your computer back to factory settings. You can reach Dell by visiting http://support.dell.com/.
Thanks!

If you want to restore your computer to factory settings, and you dont mind losing your files, you will need to get the cd recovery disc, put it in the cd-rom drive and reboot your computer. it will start the process from there.

beware, it will erase everything that currently is on there and when finished bring the computer to the original factory settings.
