Try a hard restart, which simply means unplugging the power cord of the printer, and replugging it after one minute has passed. If that does not work, then rerun the CD used to install the printer. Both techniques reprogram the electronics, to a certain extent.
You can also visit the HP website, to see what solutions are being offered for various printer problems. They probably have a number to call, in case you need to talk to a technician.
Hope these suggestions help you out.

If your color improved slightly when running the printhead option then doing more should help get better results. Sometime the printheads get really dirty/clogged and running the cleaning option more then once is needed.
If you get a slight line running across the page (from left to right) usually the indicates dust build up on the printhead or ink carriage. The dust acts as a paint brush being dragged across your paper as the carriage moves across the page during printing. You can clean the bottom of the carriage with a Q-tip or purchase some cleaning paper for your printer.

Usually answered in minutes!
replaced ink cartridges still tells me empty.
I ran out of magenta ink in my HP C5180 printer so i printed in B&W until I purchased new ink next day. I inserted the new ink but when I go to print anything it keeps telling my my magenta ink is empty and gives me the option of printing in Black ink only. When i press OK it prints in colour but still still every time it keeps saying that the magenta colour ink is empty which it is not. Can anyone help. In HP Solutions it see the ink as full and printer shows ready to print and no error message.
Thanks
