Make a folder on your desktop. Then go to my computer. Right click on the drive that has the disk, and go to explore. Then right click the pictures that you want and select copy. After that open the new folder on the desktop. Then right click and paste

Guideliness of how to transfer my files to a new hardrive

The easiest way is to use the Windows Easy transfer. This wizard puts all of the files in the correct places. For example XP uses a different file structure than Vista or 7. Pictures are outside of the documents, now. This allows for faster searching <<search is newer method in Vista and 7, it searches doc names and content, and e-mails...
The migration takes a really long time, so be patient. In essence, start the wizard on the new computer, transfer the files across your network. If you have an older OS, you may need to make a wizard copy to run in the old machine...

Other than that, just follow the directions in the wizard.

Im having trouble burning a cd. it goes through the whole cd and it ejects the cd and says that the disk didnt burn

For $40, buy a replacement CD/DVD reader/writer, to replace the "dead" device -- much cheaper than paying a qualified technician to try to trouble-shoot, and then make the same "replace it" recommendation.

I purchased a pack of Memorex CD-R rrecordable 52X 700MB 80 min. discs from Staples and I was told I could use these to transfer pictures from my drive c. When I put the CD in to the drive D it asks me to...

Cd-R does not need formatting. They are ready to burn. There is probably a problem with your cdr drive.

A cd-rom drive is not a burner.

Are you sure you have a burner and not a cd-rom?

If you do have a burner, try another few disks. If it still says insert disk then your burner has crapped out.

Copy files from old computer and transfer to new computer

Although Vista comes with an Easy File Transfer Wizard it is not compatible with Windows 98.

You will need a CD burning program such as Nero Burning Suite or Creative CD Writer or here is a link to a FREE one.

New hard drive(s) in Dell4500s

You would have to contact dell for the OS disk.

I dont think you can install the hard disk in place of floppy drive. An external Hard disk would be a better option.
