You have to clean out the dryer and the vent line, unplug the dryer, remove the lint filter and then you need to remove and clean out the duct that the filter slides into, then vac out the cabinet where the motor is,go outside and check the vent, make sure it's clear, then remove the vent line from the back of the dryer,if it's a long vent line i use a leaf blower to blow out the line.also if you have a gas dryer, check it after 15 to 30 minutes to make sure the flame is still igniting,if the gas coils are bad they will fail when they heat up,when they heat up the flame doesn't lite until the coils cool down and your clothes will be warm but wet.you should clean the dryer once a year if it's gas and once every two years if it's electric, gas dryers have an open flame and the lint can catch fire easier than electric dryers,do this and your clothes will dry on time,no fires, save energy and money on your bill.good luck

I have a maytag dryer DE882. The dryer blows warm air but does not dry clothes. Any ideas what could be the problem.

This caused by one of two possible things. Either you have poor air flow, or a clogged vent preventing air from flowing freely and therefor making the dryer short cycle, which in turn will take you two or three times to dry yor clothes, or the heating element has gone bad, burnt in half and is making contact with the case to provide it just enough power to barely heat. The second thing is a very rare occurance. I would turn the dryer on, find out where the air vents out to, and with the dryer running, go to where it vents and check to see if there is a strong flow of air. 9 times out of 10 that is going to be your problem. Another way to check air flow is to just pull the vent off the back and let the dryer run and see if your clothes dry faster. If you do it that way and they still take a long time to dry, then you'll probably need to replace the heating element

Too long to dry my clothes

HI,

It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these.

Vent
Heating element
Internal ductwork
Cycling thermostat
Vent Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.

Heating element Your dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.

Internal ductwork Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Cycling thermostat Although this isn't a common problem, one of the thermostats that controls the temperature in your dryer may break and cause the dryer to heat poorly. If so, you need to replace it. The thermostat is usually a small, round, black device mounted to an oblong steel plate. The plate is mounted to the internal ductwork with two screws.

Dryer does not dry clothes in 1 pass. Usually takes about 3 passes before clothes dry up.

  • heater not working...do the clothes get hot?
  • fan not working....no air flow.
  • identify this and then attack the one that does not pass the test

I have a Magtag Neptune dryer that recently began taking a long time to dry the clothes. I noticed that the exhaust hose was not very secure at the dryer and there was a lot of excess lint could that cause...

a vent hose that is full of lint or clogged/restricted will cause the dry to take longer to dry or leave the clothes damp. if you clean/get the hose unrestricted this should rectify the problem. Hope this helped tim

Maytag Neptune gas dryer sense dry time at 99, little or no heat

If this is a gas dryer, I'd suggest an inspection by the gas company or qualified technician. If the jets aren't firing correctly, you are wasting gas and possibly creating a hazard.
