To add a new Wi-Fi Network:

If you don't see the network you want to connect to in the list of detected networks, you can add it by choosing "Enter other Wi-Fi network" at the bottom of the list of detected networks.
  1. Make sure you are within range of the network you want to add, and that you know the network name and password (if required).
  2. Press the Home button, then press the Menu button.
  3. Navigate to "Settings" by moving the 5-way controller down, then press the 5-way controller to select.
  4. Select "view" next to "Wi-Fi Settings" to display a list of detected Wi-Fi networks.
  5. Use the 5-way controller to navigate down to "Enter other Wi-Fi network" and press to select.
  6. Enter the name of the Wi-Fi network that you want to add.
  7. Enter the password (if required). Press the Symbol key to enter numbers or characters not present on the Kindle keyboard. You can continue to use the keyboard while the Symbol menu is displayed.
  8. Choose "submit." Kindle connects to the new Wi-Fi network.
If your Kindle fails to connect to the new Wi-Fi network, it will display an "unable to connect" message. You can try manually entering all the network information for the Wi-Fi network by choosing "set up network" when you see the "unable to connect" message. If you don't know the network information, try connecting to a different network, or contact the network's administrator.

To forget a Wi-Fi network:

You can tell Kindle to forget the Wi-Fi network you're connected to so that your Kindle doesn't connect to it automatically in the future.
  1. While connected to the network that you want to forget, press the Home button, then press the Menu button.
  2. Navigate to "Settings" by moving the 5-way controller down, then press the 5-way controller to select.
  3. Select "view" next to "Wi-Fi Settings" to display a list of detected Wi-Fi networks. You may have to wait a moment as your Kindle detects networks in range. The Wi-Fi network you are currently connected to displays the word "forget" next to it in the list of available networks.

Once you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, Kindle automatically connects to it again whenever that network is in range. If more than one previously used network is in range, your Kindle automatically connects to the network that was most recently used.

Tip: Once your Kindle connects to a Wi-Fi network, that network displays "forget" next to it in the list of available networks. Selecting "forget" disconnects your Kindle from that Wi-Fi network and also prevents Kindle from automatically connecting to it in the future.

How do I connect my Samsung Galaxy to BT broadband?


Are you trying to connect via wi-fi or via bluetooth? Typical hotspots are wi-fi, and that can be as easy as turning on wi-fi (in Settings, Wi-fi - see manual or quick setup brochure) then waiting for it to find an active hotspot and plugging in any necessary password. Bluetooth is much less common. Post more info and I'll try to help more.

Resolution If you know there is a nearby Wi-Fi network, but you are unable to locate it on the Settings > Wi-Fi screen:
  • Move closer to the Wi-Fi router or hotspot.
  • If you are using a personal Wi-Fi network, verify the Wi-Fi router is connected to power and turned on.
  • Wi-Fi networks configured as "closed" or "private" do not broadcast the network name to Wi-Fi devices.
    • Join a "closed" or "private" network by tapping Settings > Wi-Fi > Other and entering the Wi-Fi network name, security, and password.
After joining a Wi-Fi network, if you notice the signal strength is low or intermittent
  • Move closer to the Wi-Fi router or hotspot.
  • Check for any sources of potential interference.
  • Remove any cases or attachments on your device that could interfere with a Wi-Fi signal.
If you are unable to access the Internet while connected
  • If you are using a commercial Wi-Fi network that requires a special login or subscription, see this article for more information.
  • If you are in a location with multiple Wi-Fi networks, verify that you are selecting the correct network.
  • Verify that the Wi-Fi network settings are correct:

  • Reset network settings by selecting Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings, including passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
  • iPhone only: If you continue to experience issues, consider turning off Wi-Fi and using the cellular data connection instead of Wi-Fi.
Additional Information If using a Wi-Fi router at home, refer to your user manual/documentation to assist you with some of these suggestions.
  • Check the manufacturer's website for your Wi-Fi router for firmware or software updates.
  • Verify the Wi-Fi router can broadcast an 802.11b/g signal. If using a 802.11n Wi-Fi router, consult the manual/documentation for how to configure the Wi-Fi router for 802.11b/g compatibility.
  • If you are using multiple WEP keys on your Wi-Fi router, try configuring your Wi-Fi router to use only a single WEP key.
  • Try or resetting (or turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router. Note: If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.

Basic troubleshooting
