Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P93 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Sony DSC-P93 Image

The digital photos from my P93 now have a grey to black "smudge/cloud" from top to bottom near one edge of the image -- you can see through the cloud. The shape of the cloud is irregular and almost tornado-like and dark and widest at the top to almost dispearing at the bottom. I have cleaned the lens, changed cards, etc. and smudge is still there.
Is my camera shot?

Any advice would be appreciated -- thanks

I have taken photos on my sony cyber shot DSC-N1. There is one photo I want to convert to Black and White and thought I could do that on the camera itself but I have gone through the menu and cant find...

You can set the camera up to capture images in black and white, or more accurately, monochrome (always a bad idea) but your camera cannot convert a colour image into monochrome after capturing it in colour. I'm unaware of any cameras able to do so as it just takes too much processing power.

By far the best way is to always capture the image in colour and to then use pc/Mac software afterwards to convert. The recorded colour information is of great use in giving added tonal depth to a monochrome image and can be used to simulate the effects of using the coloured filters which monochrome photography relies on to alter image contrast.

My sony digital camera was stepped on and the viewfinder is broken

I have a DSC-P93 (same camera with 5mp) I had crack the LCD carrying the camera in my front hip pocket. I searched for a replacement LCD and I had no luck. I ended up Buying a “parts” camera from ebay for $9.90 + 4.00 for shipping. You could get either DSC-P73 or DSC-P93 (the LCD is the same) just be sure they say that the screen shows something. Menus is fine errors are no problem as long as it’s not black.

It sounds like you have the Mode switch set to the Movie position instead of the Record position. The Mode switch should be set as show on the following image:
