Question about Lanzar (MAXP154D) 15'' 2000 Watt Dual Voice Coil Subwoofer Driver for Small Enclosures Car Speaker

Open Question

I have a Lanzar MAXP154D Subwoofer and I'd like to know what is the best way to wire it. It came with a diagram on parrallel and series wiring. I am using a 1800watt mono amplifier. Is it best to hook it up parrallel or series?

SOURCE: I have a JL Audio 12 ich subwoofer rated at 8 ohms. also a mono block insignea amplifier at one ohm stable 1-4 ohms. how to i wire it safley? possible?"

Your amp based on what you say would have no problems whatsoever with an 8 ohm load, not even if it actually has dual 4 ohm coils and you wire them in parallel giving a 2 ohm load (don't know your particular sub).

Every good car amp has protection circuits to prevent itself or the speakers from damage from too low loads so it shouldn't be a problem even if you screw up with your calculations. A good amp should even be capable of dealing with a dead short on a channel, zero ohms, activating protection of course.

Good luck and don't worry!

How do you bridge a dual voice coil

use a decent wire (same gauge as you would use to connect it to your amp) and connect it between the "+" pole of one coil and the "-" pole of the other coil. use the 2 other poles to connect the speaker to the amp. Have a nice day!

How do wire my 15'' to 1ohm

If each voice coil is rated at 2-ohm, then wire it in "parallel". This will make a 1-ohm total load.

amp pos. out to coil 1 pos. to coil 2 pos.

amp neg. out to coil 1 neg. to coil 2 neg.

If the they are dual 4-ohm, the rating would be 2-ohm in parallel.

How do you wire up a dual voice coil lanzar 15 for 4 ohm?

Hello dexterchapma,

The only way to wire a single 4ohm DVC sub to present a 4ohm load is to just connect one voice coil. If you wire the coils in parallel, you get a 2ohm load. If you wire them in series, you get an 8ohm load. But it will work great with just one voice coil. Or if you really want to use both voice coils, and your amp isn't stable at 2ohms, wire the voice coils in series and present an 8ohm load to the amp. It'll work fine, it just won't deliver quite as much power.

Hope this helps.

In short yes. And is very common even has its own term called bridged. Taking two channels and making them one. I would hope that you are running a cap. that's going to put out a lot of power and stress on your battery
