Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Washer is "locked"...door flew open during an "too heavy" (best guess) wash load

Whirlpool
Model 9400
Model # GHW9400PW4

This is the second time this has happened. Last time a tech replaced the door lock switch part number 8182634.

Is there a way to "unlock" the machine to see if this is indeed necessary to repeat?

Whirlpool duet front load g washer. The door sprung open during a wash and now won't close since the electronics indicate the door is in lock mode. I'm unable to reset it so we can close the door??

wow the door came open during a cycle !! if this happened id say there's a problem with the door lock mech, as that should not happen (unless there's some foreign object caught in it ) and ive seen everything from baby socks tohair scrunches get in there, but if lock is savable id say it should unlock about two seconds after power cord is removed /held for ten seconds and then reconnected (this is normal self ck for machine ) if it still doesn't unlock then id say the entire mech needs replaced ,I will say the solininoid doesn't last for ever

I was washing beach towels and during the rinse/spin cycle the door popped open on my whirlpool duet ht (model GHW9400PL4). I haven't been able to close the door since it opened before the cycle was...

those have a 2 latch system, sounds like the second latch that engages during the spin cycle never quite completed the safety lock , you could try and jumper the latch to see if that would release it, But it seems the secondary latch wasn't working properly in the first place, even the heaviest loads shouldn't pop the door open,

Whirlpool duet washer, door locked light on door open no other lights on unable to set control

The control can be locked to keep the buttons from activating during external cleaning or to help from small children starting the machine.

To activate or deactivate press and hold the "end of cycle signal" button for 3 seconds.

Just bought a front load whirlpool wash machine. when i turn it on it locks door then unlocks door, it does this 2 to 3 times then the washer fills with some water only spins about 3 times then it waits...

This washer will stop and start a number of times during fill as it is sensing how much water it needs. Also you must hook both water line up and have both on. Also you must use HE soap and very little of it.

Washing machine won't spin dry . Its a whirlpool 2 speed 7 cycle heavy duty model

If this is a top load clothes washer, almost all units will not spin if the door is open during the cycle time when it should be spinning. If the door is closed, check if the door safety interlock is broken (on most washers, you will see a pin on the door pressing into a little depression)

If these things check out, you probably have a failed transmission deep inside the clothes washer. Fixing that is non-trivial.

Duet washer stopped during wash cycle.

take off the panel below the door three screws and look for the tech sheet located on the right side. It will coach yoou thru the codes and common problems. Sounds like it may be the door swithch does it lock when you push the start? If not the door switch my guess would be a machine control. 877-262-1479 parts.
