Hi, I would like to mail order a Galaxy DX 73v radio.
Does anyone know or have dealt with any reputable mail order companies that
wont rip me off?
I would also like to have the radio converted to use the "regular" CB 40
channels. (I've heard the "export" radio's have to be converted to use the
CB channels)
I would like to order and have the radio converted all by the same mail
order company if thats possible.
My local CB shop wants $315.00 and says that it comes with NO warranty at
all, and says that if the radio comes in NOT working, then it's my tough
luck.
I think $315.00 is WAY to high (especially with no warranty)
I've also seen on the "net" that all galaxy's now have 2 year warranty's.
Please help.
Thank You,
-Brian

That might be so as long as you don't open the cover.
Channel it lose it!

I own a cb shop in Texas, and can call my supplier to see if they have any of these in stock. Neither of my suppliers have the 73v listed, so I would have to see if they are still carrying them.
LMK if you would like me to check into that radio for you.

U.S. when converted. For the companies which make these radios to be
able to sell in the U.S.
and not get into severe trouble with our Department of Commerce and the
FCC,
they cannot fix radios sold to U.S. residents which they know have been
tampered-with.
Any "type accepted" cb radio loses it's type-acceptance if it has been
modified, and you
cannot make a non type-accepted rig into a type-accepted rig by
modifying it to operate
on the CB channels, even if it meets all the power and emission
standards of a type-accepted radio...
The same thing holds for modified Uniden hr2510's comming back from
Uniden in the
Stock condition. They have to consider the mod the same way they
consider a mal-function and they will "fix" it before Uniden sends it
back to you...

model number has a 2 year warranty. The Saturn and the turbo have no

also include full conversion and tuning with SOME type of warranty. that
much money for a radio straight out of the box with no warranty would have
me looking for another shop that would take better care of me as a
customer. the Galaxy warranty is good only if the radio isn't modified,
just like the warranty from Cobra or Uniden. i have heard that as long as
the radio hasn't been butchered, Galaxy will probably straighten out the
problem even after conversion. there should be no need to send the radio
back to Galaxy though, once you find a competent tech. Sean aka Bigfoot
