On Pinnacle Studio 12 plus, during the 'Make Movie', some of my still photos go black for several seconds and then reappear in time for the transition or just before the transition. This is then burnt like this onto the DVD. I have noticed that the photos go black during the rendering process and even re-doing the 'Make Movie' and re-rendering doesn't fix it. this program has only started doing this on my last 2 projects and it is getting worse with over 1/3 of the still photos on my most recent DVD going black.

Hi and Welcome,

Click on set up>video and audio preferences>unchecked background rendering>click on "used this codec for background rendering>click and choose MPEG2 for best output to disc. Now click on project preferences>click on delete button and then choose delete auxiliary files for all project and then click okay.

Setup again video and audio preferences enable full resolution preview and click okay.

Another is,

click on the completed project in the timeline, go up to "Edit," click on "select all" in the dropdown menu, then RIGHT click anywhere in the now-highlighted project and select "Copy."
Now go back up to "file" and click on "New Project." Your current timeline will close (don't worry. It's saved,) and a new blank timeline will open. Left click anywhere in the new timeline, then right click and select "paste."
After a terrifying period when you think nothing is happening, your entire project will suddenly appear in the new timeline.
Save it with a new name, then try rendering again.

Regards,

I have Pinnacle studio 12 and when I want to add a movie I get the comment that I have to install MPEG-4 Encoding/Decoding. Where can I find that file and how do I do it?

To install MPEG-4 Encoding/Decoding, you can try the following steps:
  1. Go to the Pinnacle Studio 12 installation folder on your computer.
  2. Look for a folder named "Redist" or "Redistributables".
  3. Inside the "Redist" folder, look for a file called "MPEG-4_Codec.exe" or similar.
  4. Double-click on the "MPEG-4_Codec.exe" file to run the installation process.
  5. Follow the instructions provided by the installer to complete the installation.
If you cannot find the "MPEG-4_Codec.exe" file in the Pinnacle Studio 12 installation folder, you may need to download it from the internet. You can search for "MPEG-4 Codec download" in your preferred search engine and look for a trusted website to download it from. Once downloaded, double-click on the file to run the installation process, and follow the instructions provided by the installer to complete the installation.
Once the MPEG-4 Codec is installed, you should be able to add movies to Pinnacle Studio 12 without any issues.

I have pinnacle studio 12 plus when i am publishing the movie it gives a export failure rendor error so i took out all the transitions and then only published half. I checked off the background thing...

Hi

In pinnacle studio as the movie is being rendered, the cursor moves along with it, this way you can find out at what point in the rendering process, the program stopped.

when you get the Pinnacle 14 Export Error; Real Time at some frame, then you know that, that frame may be damaged, so cut a few frames before and after where the cursor stopped, and try again.

if the rendering process stops a few times during the compilation, keep cutting those pieces and try again.

i hope that helps
Thanks
Jason

Looking for Pinnacle Studio Plus v 12 manual - any suggestions where to get one?

You can get the manual from Pinnacle ftp server.
Just copy and paste the address below into the address box of your browser :

ftp://ftp.pinnaclesys.de/Manual/Studio_12

Or use the link below. I downloaded a copy of english version of the manual to my Dropbox, so that you can get it.
This is only a temporary link though and if you need or prefer the manual in a language other than english (the manual is available in several languages) you'll have to go to the address above:

File/Folder Permission Message in Pinnacle Studio 11 Plus

Hello welcome to FIxya!

Here you can check this procedure on how to open your files again.

"1) Check your Recycle Bin
2) Do a Folder/File Search for each of the Grey Folder Project names. This will display all Folders & Files with that Project Name. You are looking for an .stx File. If it's there, right-Click on Project Name / Open Containing Folder & Copy it to your My Projects Folder. Then you should have both the Grey Folder & .stx File for the same Project name, showing in your My Projects Folder.
If the Search doesn't display a .stx File, you can create a new one, by Opening a New empty Project, which will create a My Movie Grey Folder & a My Movie .stx File, Save to your My Projects Folder. Delete the My Movie Grey Folder & Rename the My Movie .stx File to the same name as your original Grey Folder."
So ...after finding my "lost" movie file, with its file name, under Documents\Pinnacle Studio\My Projects i then went through the following procedures using your great advice Colour;
  1. Make a copy of your found "lost" movie grey film icon file by right mouse clicking on your lost file and choosing "copy". Paste the copy into another folder in Documents where you can find it if need be
  2. Then go back to Documents\Pinnacle Studio\My Projects and right mouse click onto your grey film icon. Choose "rename". Then rename your "lost" grey film icon to a new file name but do not put .stc at the end of the file name, if you are operating VISTA and Pinnacle 12. This is important because Pinnacle 12 won't recognise the file later if you have .stc in the file name
  3. Open Pinnacle and go to the File Menu
  4. Click on New Project
  5. Open File Menu again and click on Save File as
  6. Give the file a name such as "Movie 7" and save it
  7. Close out of Pinnacle
  8. Open up Documents\Pinnacle Studio\My Projects and observe that you now have 2 new files there ...a grey film icon file saying Movie 7 AND a coloured Pinnacle icon file saying Movie 7
  9. Delete the grey icon file with the file name Movie 7
  10. Now give your coloured Pinnacle icon file the exact same rename as your precious "lost" renamed grey movie icon file, using the right mouse click on rename proceedure as explained in No.2 above.
  11. Close out of Documents file
  12. Now open up Pinnacle again
  13. Go to Menu and choose Open Project
  14. There you will see the coloured Pinnacle icon file with the new name of your "lost" movie file.
  15. Click onto its coloured Pinnacle icon, and watch your "lost" movie come into view again
