Sounds like a loose lcd cable, I'd check to make sure it is secure (back of lcd) and where it connects to the motherboard. Usually a piece of tape right where it connects solves the problem ;)

My print screen button doesn't work on my dv9000 and i have tried EVERYTHING

On my HP Pavilion DV9500 with Win7 64 bit (laptop was new in 2007 and had Vista), I have the same problem, and I press FN-insert/scroll key and this works as the print screen button. That's the function key together with the insert key, which is 2 buttons to the left of the print screen key.

Hi, my DV9700 battery does not charge, adapter works but does not charge or run the computer on its own. I have had it checked and everything seems fine, they suggest the motherboard but I explained that...

This may sound stupid but try this, for some reason this seem to work on 6 and 9000 units with charging problems.
With the unit running, disconnect the battery and allow the unit to run for 60 seconds, then plug the battery back in, again with the unit running.

Changed bottom screen tested before putting back

Hi,

Happens sometimes it is one of two things:
1) When you put the DS back together is the ribbon from the top screen wound to tightly as this can cause the ribbon to pull out slightly from the socket on the motherbaord causing the blackout.
2) I have seen this happen only once before! The plsatic of the shell had a small chip where the battery connectors from the motherboard stick through into the battery compartment. THis tiny piece of plastic was stopping the final connection between battery and DS. Drove me mad, did all the usuals checked battery connections etc. Worht a look.

Screen goes bank after 2 seconds even if powder light is on

i just finished repairing a 20 inch acer monitor that had the same issue.... you have to take it apart and examine the power supply side of the monitor. there are capacitors that go bad on that board. you can tell be feeling the tops of them... the feel rounded. replace the capacitors and put it back together and it will work fine

The monitor goes blank after just a few seconds or sometimes works for hours.

Two possible causes are bad capacitors or a bad light inside the LCD panel.

Open the unit and check to see if any of the capacitors in the power supplyor other boards look domed or vented on the top.

Replace any capacitors accordingly. Monitor should work fine after that.

If not try checking the surface-mount transistors on the inverter board that run the lights. Some times these transistora go bad. Also, you may have a bad light inside the panel. This is tough to test without a spare light to use for troubleshooting the panel lights.

You can take the panel apart and inspect the lamps but it is very tedious. It's tough enough to get them apart and back together again never mind keeping the layers clean. You have to try not to get any dust between the layers or you will see it in the picture.

There's usually two light fixtures each of which holds two lamps. One fixture at the top and one at the bottom. Remove them one at a time and inspect the lamps to see if any are broken or very dark on the ends. If one looks out of place, it could be bad.

You'll have to find replacement lights on the net. It's not easy to replace them, but if you've gone this far, good luck. You should be able to get generic instructions off of the site that sells the lamps.
