Question about Toshiba 62HMX84 62" Rear Projection HDTV
The bulb gets its spark from a unit called: Lamp Engine. If the lamp engine is bad, you get no spark, maybe the ballast is bad. This place above can re-build your lamp engine. A new one is $500+. Seen some for $600. Service calls are 150-200. You can take out the lamp engine if you've got some tools and the will. Send it to them for an examination and rebuild. They told me if I could switch channels while my set was trying to come on, and I got audio from the other channels, it most likely is the lamp engine.
Give it some thought. Toshiba didn't tell me about that, Geek Squad did. Toshiba doesn't seem to give much of a darn about you once you spend your money for the set. Good luck. RW
