Cannot mount replacement motor. Is there a way to release the tension on the belt so I can engage the screws to mount the motor on the frame and then put the tension back on the belt?

How do I change the motor drive belt on a Bernina 1030?

Adjustment: The stepped pulley support/frame has two 5mm fixing screws on the lower end of the frame and a plastic screw on the upper frame end. Early models had a third screw on the upper side of the frame. By loosening the screws slightly, push the stepped pulley and frame frame toward the loosened side and then let go,...tighten the screws. The frame tension spring is generally sufficient to adjust the belt tension. However, you may want to add a little tension but do not load too tight as you can cause stress on the motor or damage the front motor shaft bearing.
If a belt is needed, you can find them from local companies dealing in bearings, pulleys and drive components, i.e. Kaman Industrial etc. If memory serves me correctly the belt type is MXL, 250mm length, 5mm wide. The outer side of the belt has information to tell you the type. If you want to find one online go to www.sdp-si.com.

The belt broke on this unit...how do I install it?

Unplug the power cord or shutting off the circuit breaker. Remove the belt guard loosen the four bolts that hold the motor to the compressor frame. The holes in the frame are slotted to move the motor for belt tensioning. Remove the old belt by pushing the motor toward the compressor. Place the new belt on the pulleys and hand tighten the four motor bolts. Align the two pulleys with each other. Apply a little tension on the V-belt. Place the bar at the base of the motor and push the motor back using the frame of the compressor as the leverage point & deflect the belt downwards with your finger. You should have approximately ½ inch of free belt deflection. Tighten all four motor mounting bolts & check the deflection of the V-belt and the alignment between the pulleys again. Realign or re-tension as necessary. A correct fit will ensure proper operation of the air compressor. Replace the belt guard on the air compressor and reapply the power. Check the belt movement through the guard and for proper operation of the compressor by following the manufacturer's instructions.

Belt routing on my Olds 98 LSS. It looks like I

on the v6- 3.1 yes you do. here is how to change it yourself, first of all, release tension on the belt tensioner. remove belt from pulleys, place a floor jack under engine on motor mount side to take off. put a piece of wood on jack to protect engine. jackup to engine with very slight pressure to hold it while removing mount. take off mount, remove old belt, put new belt on. the tensioner can be moved with a 3/8 drive in tensioner hole. after belt is on replace mount. then lower jack down. thats it!!

Drum turns but will not heat. How do I get to heating element to check..

Check the house breakers for the dryer first--push off, then on. If no help, remove the top (screws in the back and slide off or use a thin putty knife to push into the seam at both front corners to release spring latches). Take screws out of the front sides to release front panel and then lift up to release at bottom. It will help to release the drive belt tension at the motor (through a small panel in back). Remove the mounting screws in the center rear of the drum and remove the drum along with the belt. The heating element(s) are behind the drum. Check (and replace if bad) to see if the belt is heat damaged. Good luck!

Replacing a Tensioner Pulley on 1994 F 350

Release belt tension and remove belt. You will need a 1/2" drive breaker bar or ratchet to release tensioner. Be sure to note routing of belt on pulleys for reinstallation in case the diagram decal is gone. Remove the mounting bolt and remove tensioner. Note that there is a locating pin on the back that must engage the hole in the mounting bracket. Line up the locating pin on the new tensioner with the hole in the mounting bracket. Install the tensioner mounting bolt, making sure the locating pin stays lined up. Torque to specs and reinstall the belt according to the diagram on the hood or fan shroud. Be sure all grooves of belt line up in pulleys to avoid damage. If it is just the pulley or bearing that's bad, you can sometimes purchase these separately and use the old tensioner assembly.

Maytag A108 pump belt slips and doesn't pump, is there a belt tensioner that engages when the water needs to be pumped out?

The pump belt is designed to be loose to a certain degree, however the drive and pump belt should be replaced every 11 years to maintain optimum performance. The instructions on the belt packaging shows how to properly set the tension. The motor mount may also need some attention at this stage of life. Remove the 2 philips screws at the bottom of the front panel and disengage from the top panel by pulling outward at the bottom of the front panel. Tilt washer slightly backwards far enough to reach under and pull off the drive and pump belt. Make sure that the motor rolls freely in the motor mount assembly. Lubricate with 3 in 1 oil if necessary, (or other light wt. oil). Install new belts as per package instructions. Test spin before replacing front panel.

The belt slips off my Belt Sander

All sander will have two adjustments. The first is to release the sanding belt by retracting the position of one of the rollers. The second adjustment moves one of the rollers belt tension from side to side. The roller angular position is changed, sometime by a single knob or screw, and sometimes by two separate adjusting screws.

How to get into the cabinet? I have a Kenmore Dryer that hums but the drum won't turn, maybe belt! Model # 110 62942100 thanks, tom

Hi,

Kenmore dryer belt

  • UNPLUG DRYER
  • remove lint filter
  • remove two screws in lint filter panel securing cabinet lid to filter frame
  • with putty knife or other blunt blade, depress clips ~2inches in from the front corners of the lid to release cabinet lid
  • tilt lid up
  • remove 1 screw from each side 1/3 the way down
  • remove cabinet front and door
  • motor bearings tensioner are all visible

  • lift out drum forwards
  • check support rollers felts and nylon glide bearings for wear
(worn bearing surfaces are the most common cause of belt breakage, and you dont want to do it again next month)
  • make sure tensioner is still installed in cabinet base, sometimes breaking belts pull them out
  • loop belt around drum at prior wear marks
  • reinsert drum
  • pull tensioner to end of travel against spring
  • loop belt around motor pully and tensioner
  • relax tensioner
  • rotate drum by hand to make sure belt wont jump off.
Thanks
